I agree many of us will have a good laugh looking at the Maruti loyalist in me, but believe you me, so far, we have never faced any issues with any of our cars we've owned and mentioned above. It's the ultimate satisfaction quotient and peace-of-mind offering that all these cars have given us over the ownership period.

It's just the same thing being repeated - service at the right time, and forget about everything else.

To sum up our association with Maruti in my dad's words - Maruti ma khali petrol bharo, ane jya jau hoy tya nikli jao (Fill up the gas in your Maruti, and take her wherever you wish to go!)

Quite expected GTO. I predicted this as soon as I saw this poll.

We are not representative of the population of India, we are a biased sample. Biased towards performance, brand and may be a few more features definitely. I would go on to say that we are slightly elitist (by virtue of the digital medium) and end up excluding the bottom of the pyramid (probably the reason why the alto owners are under represented, resulting in low Market share for Maruti.

I think a lot of people also realize this and hence you can see a clear premium on cars on our classified sections (old Nanos asking for 2.5 lakhs )

In the last almost 35 yrs we have had only Maruti Suzuki vehicles because my father is a completely pro-Maruti loyalist.

And if Rolls Royce and Bentley are there in the list, I see no reason why Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin & McLaren should be excluded.

My first car experience with Maruthi was good and I moved to Ford in 2010. When I got a chance to go for another brand (especially Skoda) in 2019, I preferred to stay with Ford because of the personal rapport built with the service centre and the OEM.

Since I am a Newbie, I cannot vote but I want to take part here nevertheless. We have owned 2 cars till now and are in the process to buy a third.
1) Maruti Suzuki 800- Owned for 10 years. Sold.
2) Honda City (2009)- Bought it in March '17. Driving it currently.
3) Ford Ecosport (2014)- Most probably we will get it next week. I am excited for it.

Of ~68,700 Team BHPians, ~1000 members voted. So this market share representation statistically doesn't even reflect Team BHPians' choices/ predelictions. Not sure if we can derive anything out of it, but it makes for a good read. Especially happy to see VW up there.

Wild interpretation: Team BHPians who are MOST REGULAR in reading and responding tend to choose Maruti, Honda,...

Disproportionately high number BHP-ians own more than 1 car. And there is a high chance that the second car would be non-Maruti/Hyundai.

We are also removing a large taxi market which is dominated by Maruti and Toyota.

I feel that is the reason we see a higher respresentation of other cars than the general market. BMW has a 7%+ vote share :-).
