Robbery attempt gone south, thanks to 2 Rottweilers

A brief attempt at robbery by a chap at my daughter’s place in Chennai today had a very fast ending. He has jumped the wall, and was making a sortie, without realising what lay ahead…2 Rottweiler’s.

The dogs were having a siesta at the back yard, when this Charlie happened to intrude. Then things happened very fast, and he was back over the wall in a jiffy, and was seen running for his life.

I hope he learnt a lesson.

Served him well. I’d still say the pets were ‘well behaved’. Hope you guys report it to the police especially when you have this clear footage.

It was reported, and they have said they will increase patrolling for the area.

That's a very daring afternoon intrusion by the thief. Thank God for the Dogs
You need to put up a barbed fence where the intruder jumped the wall.

Good to see the Dogs and CCTV in place. The thief is lucky the dogs were not that ferocious, in this instance two Rottweilers ! They have one of the strongest bite forces amongst dogs.

At the risk of a possible intentional infraction:

With depressing news all around; With standup comedy feeling rather dry and dreary; This video provided for a hearty laughter...possibly better medicine than any of the top-of-the-line covid vaccines!

May the blessings of Rottweilers be forever present!

Good to see nothing untoward happened. Did you have Beware of Dogs board?

If the dog had bitten him, would it be a problem. In US if a dog bites, I think they euthanize the dog.

Please ensure that you appoint a security guard at least for the short term. More than your daughter's property they need to look over the dogs and ensure no one unknown is feeding them. There are cruel people who would love to harm dogs with food laced with poison, razor blades and what not.

Please do not take my message otherwise sir. I'm posting this out of concern for their wellbeing. Thieves tend to scout an area and come back.

Also I hope the brave pups got lots of treats and pets today. They are very good boys / girls.

Not when someone is trespassing on your property. You have the right to defend your property. The defendant will need to prove willful and wanton misconduct. In all US states you can use non-lethal force to defend your property. Putting a dog down is taken very seriously, a judge will go over the entire case history. There is a "first bite law" that protects the dog, and the judge will look at the reasonable measures taken by the pet owner.

Dont ask me why - but, I like to watch these dog bite cases on TV, and I really like how most judges are pet owners themselves, and how compassionate they are towards the pet and the pet owner.

These are really friendly dogs you got there. My friend's Rottweiler would have left the thief in a shredder. He is that mean

Old is Gold. Even with all technology advancements, we are not in a situation to avoid the theft attempting event. All we can do is only monitor the event and start investigation, search, catch and recover items to whatever extent possible post occurance of event.

This simple solution to avoid entire episode by having pets at Home is a wonderful and innovative idea by our ancestors. Simply Amazing.

Would have been even better if they'd got a nice juicy chunk of leg!

Man, that guy was incredibly lucky those rotties didn’t shred him to bits! These are some ferocious dogs and will not take kindly to strangers.

Where did this happen in Chennai?

I’ve seen cases where the thief managed to kill the dogs with poisoned baits before managing to loot the place. Please be careful about this!
