Whether the private hospitals are hoarding the vaccine or if there is a genuine shortage, either way, the govt is at fault for not getting things under control. I don't even know whom to complain to.
Would suggest to call the hospital before hand to check availability and visit them accordingly.
We did the same. Unless they ask specifically for appointment, no need to take one.
Also don't go after large corporate hospitals, they are not interested in dedicating space and resources for vaccination or for covid care. They are blatantly attempting all tricks to reserve beds for covid care. Case in point, Apollo hospital in Bannerghatta road which was booked recently.

Check out smaller private hospitals, they are better in this sense.

I am able to get OTP but it still says that registration is open only for those born before 1976.

EDIT : Just now saw @carmitesh msg. I will try at 5PM today. In all possibility it would be like booking tatkal in railway website: 10mins and all gone. Of course, pre corona happy days.

I am doing that only. And none of the nearby hospitals where I am getting appointments through cowin are conducting vaccinations for the past few days. Checked just now as well. They may as well shut down the site if people have to just walk in into govt centers.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine | Registration & Experiences

Been trying to get my folk's second dose since the past one week. The previous appointment for Surana hospital Malad(west), Mumbai on Cowin site got cancelled. I rescheduled once for Nesco, 30th April, even that got cancelled.

I went to Surana hospital they said they don't have stock, while the BMC pages still has them listed (even today's updated list).

Current situation in my ward is that there are only 3 out of the 5-6 hospitals where vaccination is happening. Each hospital gets 200 vaccine doses. People are queuing up for the doses from morning 5:30am. They people themselves are creating a list upto 200 and then asking the rest to return and come the next day. The list gets full by 7am.

Cowin site shows no site available for vaccine for entire Mumbai. So it is now first come first serve basis and those whose appointments were not cancelled.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine | Registration & Experiences

I along with mom took the second dose of Covishield on April 26th. I wouldn't have been otherwise eligible for vaccination but election duty in the recent Assam Assembly Elections made it compulsory for all polling officials to be vaccinated. I had taken the first dose on March 5th, so there was a gap of over 50 days between the two doses in my case.

I am scheduled for getting my 2nd dose tomorrow. None of the hospitals have stock. Can only wonder what will happen after 1 May. Long queues ? more chaos ? Can govt also be privatized ?

Is 2nd dose automatic? Or should I go via Arogya Setu app, take appointment etc?

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine | Registration & Experiences

Wondering what is the procedure now for Karnataka as we have a lock down here till May 12th . Looks like we will be deprived of getting the shot till then. There is a window open from 6am-10am for essential activities but fitting the vaccine drive in that window would be chaotic and suicidal.

The movement of people for vaccination is exempted during the lockdown. It is clearly mentioned in the guidelines. You need to show the proof of the appointment. However, those trying for walk in appointments have to wait.

You need to fix an appointment. Not sure if they really care for that. But the registration will show anywhere you go.
When I got the first dose, I had an appointment at a PHC but went to a private hospital, the private hospital was able to see that I had registered ! Didnt matter and got vaccinated.

But thought since there are no vaccines and more people, they might try to enforce it.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine | Registration & Experiences

Heads-up, registration for 18+ is now open on the cowin portal. Although it seems like 18+ can only register for now and are unable to schedule an appointment for vaccination as the portal displays a minimum age limit for booking as 45+ for all hospitals in BLR. Wonder when this will open up?

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine | Registration & Experiences

The Cowin server has crashed most probably due to sudden upsurge of traffic. Even Arogya setu is not responding, there are no OTPs being sent.
