I think the benchmark is 15 days after the 2nd shot. That's when the antibodies would develop to the required extent. So using the first shot is not the correct approach.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine | Registration & Experiences

Is it true that smaller towns/villagers who are vaccinating people give the certificate only after the second dose ?

A staff member got vaccinated in his village and unlike in bigger cities he did not get any sms of the first shot certificate link and when I asked him to enquire with them they said he will defiantly get the certificate but both together once he takes the second shot.

Perhaps this a way for them to ensure people come back for the second shot?

Apparently there was no computer at this vaccination Center although all their details were noted down in a register such as Aadhar and mobile number.

Anyone experienced this or have any clarity on this ?

Logged in to Co-WIN portal yesterday to schedule the 2nd shot of the vaccine for my mother. The hospital where the 1st shot was taken did not show in the list. When we called up the hospital, they said that there is a shortage of Covaxin! Upon enquiring when it would be available, they said that they are not sure. They asked us to call the hospital daily to check and walk in directly whenever it is available.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine | Registration & Experiences

Regarding the 10 dose per vial:

Was speaking to my cousin who lives in rural KA: He said that the PHCs there are opening a vial only when 10 people are ready. So the first 9 people are made to wait till the 10th person comes in, and then the vial is opened and used up.

What ever some people may think about the permutations and combinations, I think this is a nice idea so that the vaccine is not wasted.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine | Registration & Experiences

I was assigned Election Duty during the recent round of Assembly elections here in Assam. As part of that, all polling personnel were advised to undergo vaccination. I was administered the first dose of Covishield on March 12. In my case Election Duty came as a blessing in disguise as I wouldn't have been otherwise eligible for vaccination anytime soon.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine | Registration & Experiences

Do people have an option of choosing Covaxin or Covishield? News reports say that many hospitals in Mumbai are giving the option. Officials in BMC have also claimed that CoWin app will give an option to choose the desired vaccine. Is this happening on the ground in Pune as well? There seems to be no option in the CoWin app for selection yet.

Any ideas on availability of Covaxin in Pune or Pimpri chinchwad Municipal corporation limits?

I don't think that is the case. One should be able to login to the CoWIN portal and generate the certificate. However, in our case, parents got vaccinated at a rural PHC in KA, details were recorded in the system but the portal still shows appointment not scheduled. No SMS came after vaccination.

Initially, we were told the same - certificate would come after the second dose. It is apparently a technical glitch in the system due to which the beneficiary reference ID does not get generated sometimes. It so happened that the IDs did not generated at all on certain dates according to personnel based there. I tried calling the helpline who redirected me to technical helpline but nobody had a solution other than asking to wait for some more days. What was more ridiculous was helpline folks asking for OTPs to login to the portal and apparently that is by design!

"Why Different Vaccine’s Efficacy Cannot be Compared Against Each Other? They have different: Mechanisms of action, levels of data published

Were tested in different: Countries, times, prevalence of variants

ABOVE ALL, no head to head trials So. Take whichever is available"

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine | Registration & Experiences

I had a great experience at Apollo Cradle, Koramangala. Was offered a choice between Covaxin and Covishield. And since Astra Zeneca is in the dock over efficacy results, clots etc - went with Covaxin. Didn't feel the jab, it was so smooth. Have mild fever and little lethargy, popped a Dolo 650, all looks good. Nurse said 48 hours, I might feel the symptoms. Got the certificate in a jiffy, too. Feel relieved I took this step

Hearing about news of vaccine getting out of stock. Any first hand experience on this?

I am waiting for them to open for all so that I can get in line to get vaccinated.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine | Registration & Experiences

Do most hospitals not offer a choice between Covishield and Covaxin in Bangalore. When I tried calling the hospital near my locality, they said it depend day-to-day which ones they get in stock.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccine | Registration & Experiences

TN Government announces a "vaccination carnival" from 16th to 18th April, says 17 lakh vaccine doses readied for the purpose; insists everyone eligible should get vaccinated.

Saw another news item which said Jhonson & Jhonson requests permission for India trials of their single dose vaccine.

All the glitches were sort it out on the first week. It is just that the public health centers and hospitals are lazy to enter the data in the Cowin website. In one of the nearby public health centre hospital, the doctor was trying to drive his logic into me asking why normal people need certificates. I told him it was not his choice and moved on to a different place.

All data is entered into the system using the cowin app, a computer is not required at all.

Interesting, was at the same hospital with my elder Brother on 9th.
He had specifically asked for Covaxin and was administered the same.
It's been 2 days now and he has not shown any reaction to the vaccine.
While we did buy a strip of Dolo, he has not taken the tablets so far.

How are you doing, any reaction/discomfort?
