I am not sure if there are dealers for PAMP Swiss gold bars, it comes with a serial number and a certificate. I have gotten very good value for these at jewellers in India. I always have some of these 1oz bars. They are credit card size, easy to stack/store in bank lockers. If one decides in diversifying, these Swiss bars are a great option.

Equity segment is enough.
Type "GOLDBEES" (or any other ETF) in your watch list and trade as you do with stocks.
For sovereign gold bonds, you would have to select from one of the multiple tranches available. |
Guys - a useful link which compares the different SGBs currently trading on NSE and you can purchase them through Zerodha as if you are buying a stock.

PAMP has a presence in India through MMTC a government enterprise. The entity is called MMTC PAMP and their gold and silver bars are available for purchase online. They have also tied up with Google pay for their gold locker facility which is a fantastic way to buy, store and finally convert it into a deliverable gold bar or can also be sold online.

MMTC-PAMP India Pvt. Ltd. is a joint venture between Switzerland based bullion brand, PAMP SA, and MMTC Ltd, a Government of India Undertaking.

I have applied for SGB via HDFC bank, I just got a reference number and nothing else.
I could not find any way to check status of the application anywhere on HDFC website, Any one has any idea on how to check the status?

was the amount deducted at the time of application or later? In my case, money is still not deducted from my account , so that left me thinking if application was successful or not.
Anyways, I later saw that there are multiple tranches till June, if not in this one, will try in next one.
Thanks :thumbs up

My understanding is that money will be deducted on closing day of the issue, i.e. 21st. That's when order is placed
Anybody here invests in SGB through icicidirect? I had a basic demat account with no trading or anything happening, so never had any charges (as it was basic account). Bought a few SGBs to hold in demat format from there between Mar,21-June,21. Today received a bill stating annual charges. On enquiring got to know it’s because of the SGBs I hold. Now am stuck for 8 years unless I decide to sell it off in open market and pay tax. Is this maintenance charge for SGBs common in demat accounts?

ICICI bank charges a annual maintenance charge of rs 700 + GST for a demat account. Since you probably did not have any shares/bonds/SGBs in your demat account till now you were not charged this amount. And when the first demat credit of any security happened the billing got triggered. Nothing to do with SGB; same would have happened if you had a bond or a NCD which is issued only in demat mode.
Did they charge you more than rs.700? If no, just grin and bear this 700 rs. Good thing is the annual charge is fixed and doesn't depend on the number of securities in your demat account. So if you continue to buy SGBs, the annual charge doesn't change.
Edit: Just checked my ICICI demat bill. They are now charging rs 700 + GST, not 500.

As per customer care executive 0-50k nil charges, 50k-2L is 100/Year & 2L+ is 700/year. I couldn't find it anywhere on the website. Not sure where to look.
Hence the query here to check what are the charges for GOI bonds held in demat account(icicidirect in specific)?

I have had mutual funds lying there since last 3-4 years. Stopped SIP investments in 2020 and they are just lying around. Was never charged for those.

That's not what the customer care executive told me. As per him it increases as per certain holding amount slabs. I mentioned in the reply to DaiusPitar above.

You are right. I had outdated information I posted from memory. Looks like they have tiered pricing for demat services (
Link ).
Please note that the charges for demat services are charged by ICICI Bank and not ICICIDirect (please check the bill that you received; it would have come from ICICI Bank). Also SGBs would be considered as debt securities.
MFs bought and maintained via ICICIDirect are not in your ICICI Bank demat account. Hence you would not have received a demat charges bill till now.
A quick question on MMCT PAMP gold purchase. There are various platforms through which gold can be bought in any denomination. However I could not spot a "SIP" equivalent option where one can keep buying a gold for a fixed sum at a set frequency. Am I missing anything? If anyone knows please guide.
