Keto snacks, meals & restaurants in India (including low-carb stuff)

If you've even casually glanced at the weight loss thread, you'll know that many BHPians are restricting their carb intake, along with 16:8 intermittent fasting. It could either be absolutely minimal carbs as part of a Keto lifestyle (I refuse to call it "diet"), or "low carbs" as part of LCHF (low carb, high fat). I personally follow LCHF & am crazy about it. Note: we're doing it not just for weight loss / maintenance, but also good health. If you want to debate the pros & cons, this is not the thread (sole objective here is to discuss relevant food options in India). To know the science behind the benefits of low carbs, read Samurai's post here (The Weight Loss Thread).

Irrespective of which approach you choose for low carbs, the good news is that Keto has taken off like a rocket in India . The big cities offer plentiful Keto eating options, be it restaurants, supplies or snacks. Sharing some here to start the thread off. @ BHPians: please add to the list.

Keto Cakes at Bombay Bizare Baker

Low carb Pizza Bread at Yodeli

Snacks, flour, dosa mix & more at Ketofy

Desserts at Keto Me

Lots & lots of options on Amazon. Be sure to check the brand, description & reviews as there are "fake Keto" goods too. Why would anyone sell fake Keto foods? Because "Keto" commands a price premium. It isn't cheap.

Some other options I like:
Moong dal bread on Mer Konfekt (Scootsy)
Hummus & other goodies from Nutcracker
Hello Green has some amazing stuff
Kitchen Garden by Suzette Salads
Have heard about ActivEat meals

Keto Restaurants I love!

Keto Pizzas, Steaks & Desserts at Farmer's Cafe

Keto pizzas, chips + dips, desserts and more at The Pantry

Paneer Bhurji (best in the city!) at Mini Punjab, Bandra

Au Gratin, Bowls & Pizzas at Kale and Quinoa

Keto Bowls at Maiz Mexican

Sinfully awesome Keto brownies & other stuff at The Village Shop

Burgers, mushroom toasties, noodles and other Keto stuff from Kale & Kaffe

Keto pasta & noodles at Coffee Culture

• Some other restaurants with fantastic Keto menus are:
Grilled cheese tacos & other Keto goodies @ Jamjar Diner
Indigo Deli
Mexican Keto options at Sanchos, Pali Hill (top choice)
Silver Beach Cafe
Smoke House Deli (strongly recommended)
Raasta (late night friendly, have eaten there at 2 a.m.)
Candy & Green
Asian & European Keto stuff at Invincible Boudoir & Jardin
Bohemian Brew - Grilled Paneer with ariabata sauce, Paneer steak

Be sure to also call for the ingredients (e.g. Keto pizza base) and make Keto food at home. Here is last night's low carb pizza at my place. Bottom line = There are innumerable Keto options now, and I sure as hell don't feel like I'm missing out on anything at all. I do cheat ever so often though. No matter what I do, my weight has been a constant at 74 - 75 kg for 2 years:

Re: Keto snacks, meals & restaurants in India (including low-carb stuff)

Keto worked wonders for me - went down from near 95 to around 78. Even though of late due to lack of exercise and a bit too much cheating, i went back to 85, I still feel healthy as ever.

Best part about keto is that you do not feel tired or lethargic ever. It really helps in keeping one alert and full of energy.

In Bangalore - My sought after place to go for some Keto food is Grow Fit.
Being in lock down, not yet figured out if they have a restaurant to walk up to. Heavily depending on swiggy at the moment.

A quick shout out to Food Darzee. A friend at work has tried their Keto tiffin service and it's good.

Good initiative, this thread!

Unless you eat less than 20-25 g of carbs per day, you can't label it as ketogenic.
So when you order stuff (online or at restaurant) watch out.
Almond flour or Cauli-flour (or any other flour substitute) is still carbs.

I have been on keto since the last 7 years, started keto for weight loss but it has become a lifestyle.

The best way to follow keto is to avoid eating out, irrespective of how cautious you are, carbs will sneak into the food at restaurants.

Re: Keto snacks, meals & restaurants in India (including low-carb stuff)

Great thread indeed! Surely low carb / keto options have come up big time across few cities!

I see this becoming mainstream and being accepted at many places.

The key of course is how to balance this lifestyle at home and away. So apart from hotels, there are many items which one can easily make at home too.

Rather true - the crux of keto is not to substitute carbs with similar foods. The crux is to cut them completely.

However cauliflower isn't a bad thing as long as you have it in moderation - it is 5% or less carbs. It is the same with most other vegetables other than root vegetables.

Are you sure about the 5% number?

Raw veggies may be 5% carbs but that is because of humongous water content. So eating 1 kg of veggies will fill the stomach for the day but provide only 50 g of carbs.

However, for making flour the veggies are dried out. That means the carb content would easily be 50% or higher, similar to the cereals and pulses which are also dried food.

EDIT: Ah well, found it: https://urbanplatter.in/product/urba...BoCLRoQAvD_BwE
21 g carbs in 30 g of flour. That makes it 70%

Beware, there is always lot of money to be made by using buzzwords.

I would prefer eating regular wheat or rice if I wish to ingest 70% carbs. Taste wise as well as pocket friendly.

I have been looking but did not find any good eat out / delivery option in West Delhi. My wife is a regular LCHF and we are looking for options other than paneer & chicken tikka.

Re: Keto snacks, meals & restaurants in India (including low-carb stuff)

Most of the recommendations here seem to be focused on finding the eat-outs / restaurants and hardly any on home based snacking / eating! Since eating-in is more frequent than eating-out, might be good if people can also add in some home based recommendations.

Few weeks back I was checking in with the "weight loss" thread regulars on low-carb snack options. They recommended quite a few.

Cheese (cubes / slices);

Roasted peanuts and other nuts (trail-mix of sorts);

Sundal - chickpeas or black-channa soaked, boiled, and roasted in seasonings. (I think it's a Tamil Nadu original)

Sprouts - I've only been able to make the green moong dal sprouts. Have tried making sprouts of chickpeas and black-channa, but it never worked. They end up with some fungal growth or something. Have tried it on at least 4 different occasions over the last year trying to adopt learning from online sources. No dice!

Most of the vegetable salads - Broccoli / peas / carrots / radish / lettuce / cucumbers / tomato [many of them largely steamed and lightly salted with a little black pepper as well]

Dals / lentils - Quite a few times, if I am hungry in the night these days (dinner) I reach out for a glass of thick dal.

Did you check Swiggy? They have separate section for healthy eating. You can check if anything comes up in your nearby area. I can see lot of options around here in Gurgaon.

I was referring to raw veggies. All this processed stuff is as bad as junk food.

+1 to that. I always find new options in Swiggy, Scootsy & Zomato by simply searching for "Keto".
