Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

Interesting thread. With the things going the way they are a Zombie Apocalypse is not very far. If you know what I mean.

My getaway vehicle will be the classic Nissan 1 Ton 4X4. Proven reliability and military tested.

Easy to work pure mechanical with no fancy electronics. Parts can be interchanged. Towing capacity is decent hence can be loaded with munitions, fuel, food, water, spares, etc. My truck would be equipped with the following:

1. Bullet proof glass with reinforced external titanium cage
2. Reinforced doors and body with carbon fibre inserts to keep the weight low
3. AK-630 mounted on roof with 360° laser and infrared camera guided firing system
4. External camera to have a 360° view for spotting them Zombies or worse Humans looking to steal my ordnance.
5. Towing winch to get out of tricky situations.
6. Inflatable skiff with 1.5 HP motor.
7. Twin Cylinder Inflator(drawing power from battery) to inflate tyre as well as inflatable skiff.
8. LED Floodlights mounted on top and front grille having range of atleast 500 metres.
9. Side mounted Kawasaki 4S Champion with modded suspension and seat. It is a simple light weight pure mechanical bike with no nonsense utility frugality and good old kickstart. Wanted to opt for RE Himalayan but the lack of Kickstarter makes me wary of it.
10. Bullet proof reliable AK-47 (Made in Russia and not some Eastern Europe or Asian country), M60 machine gun, two Heckler and Koch MP7 (sing brother Hecker sing brother Koch! Gun Fever!) for self defence with Ruger Alaskan revolver and a Hattori Hanzo Katana
11. Ready to eat meal, barbeque grill, coal, cooking pots and pans, skipping rope, shaving kit, Casio G-Shock Rangeman Solar watch, Seiko Samurai mechanical Diver watch, medicines, disinfectant, antiseptics, oh yes and lastly one cyanide pill.

P.S. The vehicle in attached pic is MS Dhoni's Nissan 1 Ton.

Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

Excellent thread to keep us going! Had thought of it few days ago when i came across an article on Car and Driver. Here are my choices -

If i want to escape and still do it in a luxurious way then it has to be Mercedes G63 AMG. It's a capable off-road and the AMG means that anyone in pursuit has no hopes.

I wouldn't mind either the LR Defender (new one would make more sense) OR Jeep Wrangler versions if it is legendary track record that I want.

Strictly speaking in an Indian context I would pick up a Bolero or a used Pajero for their ruggedness and the ability for them to be fixed in any garage.

However my personal favorite would any day be Ford 150 Raptor. It is a superb off-road, you sit high, it's all rugged everywhere, it runs fast and it runs anywhere and if I am allowed to run wild with some more imagination, then i would like mount a Light Machine Gun on the bed of the truck to disintegrate anyone in pursuit.

Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

It will be an autorixa with a Kawasaki 650 engine

Zippy light weight agile can go through any road extremely durable...

To match the engine I will add wider tyres and disc brakes... And doors and a bull bar to go

Sorry to burst bubbles

Good to have technology and engine power.

But will any of these vehicles survive a Solar storm ?

I think the old fully mechanical Diesel fueled cars / jeeps will the ones that stays usable after one. You will not have the privilege of using an electric start though, as your battery and electronic circuits will be fried. You can push start the oldie though

Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

My choice would be 1st generation Toyota Fortuner with all-terrain tyres.

Reliable to the core with almost go-anywhere capabilities, rugged build and minimum electronics.

Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

We are at page three and yet no one thought of the vehicle that I got in mind the moment I read the title of the thread?

Well my vehicle is electric - so even if zombies capture all the fuel stations, I will keep moving

Its electric, so its also very quiet when driven sedately. Very important to stay discreet in times like those

And lastly, lets face it, no matter how much we keep running they will keep getting to our car, so hiding in a dark alley is an absolute must!

Persensting to you the Tesla Cybertruck !!

Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!-cybyrtrk.jpg
There is no way a zombie is going to suspect this thing parked in the corner of the street by the wall

Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!-garbagecontainers0009_download600.jpg

By the way, the above picture is not the Cybertruck

Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

If we ever get into such a situation, and I had to run like a mad man and find the keys to this, the Unimog. I will be the happiest man on earth.

Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!-mercedesbenzunimogu400038deg2.jpg

It all started, the fondness for this, from my 4x4 offroading game days loong back, and since then it's stuck to my head. Carry enough fuel and artillery to save one's posterior and this is all you'll need.

Cheers!
VJ

But electricity is needed to pump fuel.
Moreover I haven't heard about vehicles rendered useless by solar storms even though electricity grids were. Is it a solar storm or solar flare?

The fuel feed is mechanical. There is a primary pump and a rotary diesel pump, both of which are mechanical. With my limited knowledge, I think a solar flare and solar storm is the same, a giant burst of electromagnetic energy, which will destroy anything electronic in nature.

A related video I found

Re: Your Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle!

Tata 407

Its fast - Has been coming with a Turbo Diesel since many years now

Ground Clearance - Has massive ground clearance

Reliable - Its been here since almost 3 decades now, champion of reliability

Space - Has good enough space for a family to travel around the country

How does it drive- Drives like a big SUV, not that difficult to go around, would definitely not be a big learning curve
