Re: The most iconic car from "The Fast and the Furious" movies

Below are the cars that I love from Fast and Furious Franchise:-
1. Brian's R34 GTR
2. BRIAN'S A80 SUPRA
3. BRIAN'S EVO VII
4. RB26 swapped S15
5. RB26 swapped 1967 Mustang.
Fun fact is that the RB26 Mustang which was shown in Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift never actually was used for drifting. They used 403's V8 powered Mustang's for the drift scenes. Also there wasn't much space to put two turbo on the RB26 when it was in the Mustang's engine bay, hence they used a single turbo.
Craig Lieberman along with Sean Morris(One of the guys who built that Mustang) has a video on this car.

Re: The most iconic car from "The Fast and the Furious" movies

Hard to pick one. The Tran/Suki S2k is epic, the muscle cars are great, the Evos in 2F2F and Tokyo Drift are awesome, as is the 'Mona Lisa' Silvia and the RB26 Mustang. Should have definitely added those!

Gotta give it to the Supra though. At a traffic light, those will still send shivers down the spines of supercar owners. The first movie was singlehandedly responsible for the MASSIVE increase in that car's value. Mint condition 25 year old Supras now fetch more than some new supercars (good investment, eh?). Ironically, the Supra used in the movie is a USDM NA car to begin with.

Thank you for the interesting thread. One of my favourites franchise.
Voted for Charger, but Challenger is for me.

Even Donut Media's Nolan had the same opinion, but somehow even a souped up Civic failed to excite me, especially in the company of the iconic GT-R, Eclipse, Supra etc in the franchise. Can never imagine a Civic poster on any school boy's wall!

Re: The most iconic car from "The Fast and the Furious" movies

Trivia: If you look closely, the Evo in 2F2F has aftermarket taillights. Interestingly, the lights were manufactured by one of the sponsors of the movie and they wanted those lights on Paul Walker's Evo but the company manufactured those only for the regular, non-evo Lancer. As a result, the taillight cavity had to be refabricated to fit those lights.

Re: The most iconic car from "The Fast and the Furious" movies

I'd take R34 any day. Besides being a great looker, this car had lot more character and ofcourse carried the legacy of GT-R.

Specifications portrayed in movie

Engine
Type: RB26 2.6-liter DOHC inline-6 AWD
Lubricant: Castrol

Wheels
Type: Rays Volk RE30
Front size: 19-by-11.0 inches
Rear size: 19-by-11.0 inches

Tires
Manufacturer/Model: Continental Sport Contact 2
Front: 285/35R19
Rear: 285/35R19

No single car was necessarily built to these specifications in the movie, infact production sought out bought (1998-2002) Skyline GT-S models, which used the same basic body shell as the GT-R, but are rear-wheel drive and normally aspirated. Of course the cars were dressed up to look like turbocharged GT-Rs, but in reality, they remained without turbochargers and all-wheel drive.
The production bought a total of six Skylines to portray FBI agent Brian O'Connor's most significant ride which was not street legal i assume.

On a side note i think movies and video games have given certain JDM cars legend status and perhaps they are still honored today for what they did back then in 90s.

I'm sorry but they are all GT-Rs. The "hero" car is Lieberman's and legal in the US. The others were shipped over from Japan and used only for the movie, but all were RB26 with ATTESA and Super Hicas.

The 90s cars have a well deserved reputation. Their engines easily withstand 2-3x the power with induction upgrades. Most run reliably after 25 years with basic maintenance. They were built as a result of 80s and 90s Japanese engineering excess, and thank sweet Jesus for that!

Re: The most iconic car from "The Fast and the Furious" movies

I know this one doesn't look as fast as the others, but there is something that I found very interesting in FF6.

The 1970 Ford Escort RS1600, seen and been on this thing in person, man oh man! Its just 1600 cc and 110 odd bhp (I think), the gross weight of around 750 kg makes it do wonders. Placing it well around the fastest cars category in that era.

It is being said that the Ford and Cosworth guys churned out every bit from this car, proper british english engineering and placed Ford right back in the homes of English enthusiasts.

Lets get back into picture and see what it actually had for the movie, as it is said it's heart was a 638 Lingenfelter Ford Big Block engine with a K&N Cold Air Intake and 13 x 7 wheels.

The actual body weight plus the new engine weight, an engine proven capable of handling 1000bhp + figures, I can only imagine how that piece of machine would have felt.

Re: The most iconic car from "The Fast and the Furious" movies

I voted for Brian's Skyline GT-R34. Boy does that car look sweet. Though I haven't driven a real one, I have driven it in Real Racing 3 game .
What I would give to own one of those in the future.
My second choice would have been the Toyota Supra.

Voted for Han's RX-7. If Dom's Charger was a little subtle, would've voted for that.

However, the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS tops the list for me.

Also, Sean's 1967 Mustang Fastback from Tokyo Drift. These images aren't from the movie, but it's this pony!

Wait, you mean to say that american muscle like the SS or the Charger can be 'subtle'?!

The RX7 is a legend, Mazda really knows how not to follow convention! Sadly the Wankel era did not last (like the good ol' 2-stroke engines).

It is a shame we have "the civics" but don't have Brian's Evo VII. For the franchise, I agree it was not the most iconic, and the body works were nothing great.

I’m surprised the famous Evo VIII from Tokyo drift hasn’t made it into the poll! My favourite car from the series, apart from the Koenigsegg.

Re: The most iconic car from "The Fast and the Furious" movies

When i hear Fast and the Furious, first two things that come to my mind are the Orange Toyota Supra and Dom's Charger with the blower.

Fate of the Furious : Lamborghini Murciélago LP640.
FYI - This car is on this list because i'm a follower of Tavarish on YT and have followed the entire build. If you don't know what i'm talking about, i highly recommend watching the build series on Youtube.
