Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

Here's mine, while I would have loved two screens, but could never figure a way to put two in the space I have.

So a single 32 inch screen with QHD resolution does the job for me.

Also, I'm able use my desktop for quite a bit of official work, which means it works x times faster than the official laptop! which has all types of encryption and snooping software.

Post midnight the screen is split into 3 sections, with one corner running Netflix

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

My very simple setup is my office laptop, AKG headphones for taking calls on Hangouts and Microsoft Teams.

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

I have a basic setup in my study, a small dining table converted to a reading table, the printer and accessories have a separate unit. And a bunch of speaking trees support the monitor and help my neck. With the current setup the keyboard position is not ideal.
Working from home? Show us your home office-readingtable.jpg

The table was primarily used for studying and till now home computing was limited a couple hours of browsing (email, blogs) and an occasional longish session of coding. So, have a comfortable (recliner) that fitted well to my usage, and sometimes a (bamboo tray) .

Now, with Covoid around, it looks inevitable that I would have to WFH implying long hours sitting and typing. Need to relook on the seating.
A purchase I've delayed since most chairs I see listed are with castors. I was not too keen on a chair with castors since our flooring is good old mosaic ones and I had a feeling that this will turn out to be a slippery affair due to lack of traction.

Need to decide if I need to purchase an ergonomic chair or alternately, try out additional cushioning helps to have the correct typing position.

My home office, looks like I am stuck here for a while now and with the gym closed indefinitely I might have to fit in a basic home gym here.

The table is really nice. Is that Urban Ladder? I remember shortlisting this before I selected the Urban ladder one I have but don't remember where I saw it.

Thank you very much. No its from Godrej , funny story, a few years ago I went to look for a security cam system for my house and this table was lying in a corner with a massive discount. Even the sales guy was surprised I wanted this table. Been 4 years now and I still haven't figured out why it had such a huge discount. Its extremely solid (the trellis part is made of metal) and no visible blemish. I still haven't installed a security cam yet .
I have had a horrible experience with Urban ladder and Pepperfry, I furnished my entire house with their catalogue and realized what you see in the pictures is a far cry from what you get.

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

Not yet started work from home, but expecting to start soon. This is my study/office setup at home!

P.S. While setting it up I had efficiency in mind, like two screens-more desktop-more parallel tasks, but most of the time goes in watching Netflix

As @deepfreak15 setup a mini gym to stay fit, I instead went for only the weight machine to track my holiday munchings!

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

I don't really have a home office setup in Bangalore. It's just a study table + chair.

Here's how my primary office "office" looks like:
Working from home? Show us your home office-3.jpg

However, I'm currently working from my Kolkata home and here's how it looks like:

I'm loving the view outside, it's extremely peaceful here:

I don't think my productivity is affected working from home. Sure, multiple monitors and the mechanical keyboard do make things easier, but I've been getting the same work done very comfortably from home.

My 11~12 year old Dell laptop is refusing to die, the only thing changed in it over these years is battery. Recently bought a new laptop, but to my surprise, I couldn't find a decent laptop with replaceable/detachable battery!

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

I live in PG, I am not a working ("earning" is a better word) professional yet. Next room friend (an IT employee) has got WFH but problem was that he didn't have any desk to setup his office stuff, and having no scope of making new purchase I have "donated" my study desk to him. I hate friends .

So this is going to be my temporary study setup until he resumes his office (from office ).

For me its other way round. Good laptops (e.g. Thinkpads) are Japanese cars, minimalist simple, reliable and just mean business. Desktops are like American muscle cars, with modifications all the way. Desktops often aren't as reliable because of so many multi brand components, PSU, RAM, FAN, CMOS Battery failures aren't very uncommon, specially when you have a desktop capable of gaming, things do fail with so much heat.

Slightly back to topic, only when you use a desktop and a mechanical keyboard, mouse and large screen, you realise why ergonomics are so important. Most corporates in India don't care about it and people work from their fixed desks using laptops. In fact, the general perception of a laptop is higher social status.

iPad>Laptop>Desktop
much like
Sedan>Hatchback

It helps but not always.
In my line of work, ~60% of the time, I open up documents/diagrams on one and code/debug simulations on the other while tackling a task. Productivity improvement is significant.
Rest of the time while using mail, editing docs etc a single monitor is all I use.

Re: Working from home? Show us your home office

Here is a picture of my home office, a dedicated monitor would have helped over extended periods of work. Wall mounted computer table from Urban ladder is very sturdy, space friendly and has held itself well over the past 2 years.
