Flu season in Northern Hemisphere always peaks in February.

re: The Coronavirus Thread

Covid-19 is an imported infection. It came via the folks coming via international flights. If the Govt had enforced mandatory quarantine of all incoming passengers for 14 days, with daily monitoring of their symptoms, we wouldn't have had to lock down entire districts as we are doing now.

Slowly stage 3 signs are visible. Will it be manageably or bad, only time will tell. But fear of getting infected isn't going away after curfew, March 31st or anytime sooner. A person who tests negative today can test positive tomorrow.

2 deaths being reported from Gujarat. One from Surat & Vadodara each.

I am quite worried about my parents staying in Baroda since couple of days back there were no cases there, all were going about their normal life.

According to the recent update from ICMR, India has conducted 15,000-17,000 tests so far. As of today, we have the capacity to conduct 10,000 tests per day (50,000-70,000 per week). They are expecting a clear picture of community transmission by Tuesday.

Behave like a patient, not like a star,' says Dr RK Dhiman, director of Sanjay Gandhi PGIMS, to singer Kanika Kapoor as she throws tantrums citing that the hospital room was dirty and had mosquito infestation.

re: The Coronavirus Thread

Excerpt from the link :[As per the report, despite being taken care of very well, Kanika has not been behaving like a patient but like a star. As per the hospital, she is being provided gluten-free food, an air conditioned isolated room complete with a separate toilet and TV. She also has a separate Air Handling Unit for Covid-19 but is allegedly not cooperating with the hospital authorities.]

She is being treated like a star and hence the attitude. Why can't she be treated like everyone else ? She has done enough damage and is enjoying privileges on common man's expense

But CMO has not yet decided to heed this order. As of now the lockdown is being extended in Kasargod only.

Yes, you are right. The meeting of higher Officials are due to be held tomorrow regarding this. But there is an indication of stringent control measures in 9 Districts as per Asianet News.

Yes, but govt is still reviewing it. Also, essential services (read beverages corporation outlets) may stay open.

Here in Bangalore, I got a message from a foreign return relative that Police visited their home and put a quarantine stamp. The person was strictly following the isolation notice given at the airport but the stamping protocol was initiated after his arrival. The advise was not to step out and people who fail to adhere would be shifted to an isolation ward. The administration is doing all it can and now it's upto the people to follow.

As per News channels, hotels, grocery stores, Petrol pumps, Medical Stores etc. etc. will remain open in the wake of essential services. But there will be a strict regulation on the way people can access them. Hon. CM has called up a meeting of business persons tomorrow to discuss on this.

re: The Coronavirus Thread

I only hope better sense prevails and people with symptoms and/or having traveling history stay put under self quarantine.
The only way we can prevent spread is by identifying, isolating all folks who travelled to high risk country and those having symptoms , primary contracts etc.
