If you can drive, that is the best option. Given you are in control, you will be exposed to less people, which is required to be safe.

The best way to avoid infection is social distancing and maintaining high standards of personal hygiene. Avoid public transport as much as possible. The virus can stay alive on surfaces for days.

Folks, a nice article with data.

Work that can be done from home, should be. We need to balance between continuity of our way of life and the spread of the virus.

I’m hoping this summer gets really hot. Stay safe.

re: The Coronavirus Thread

I travelled to Raipur from Pune via Bangalore by Indigo flight on 7th and came back yesterday via connecting flight from Hyderabad, again Indigo. In the domestic terminals I did not see any screening happening in any of the 4 airports I traveled through.
Also, neither did I see any of the airline staff/ hostesses with any masks etc as such or not even a single do's/ dont's displayed anywhere in any of the airports.
It was pretty much routine as usual, except for lot of passengers with masks etc on.

re: The Coronavirus Thread

Public purchased more masks when compared to the needy people like hospitals, public facilitators. It might have been a tougher task to arrange masks for staff.

Rightly said, there is no screening in domestic terminals. It is a regular business day for them.

This is today's scenario. I doubt if IPL will happen this year. The situation will get out of control when any one of the player or staff gets affected during matches.

This weekend's Australian GP is already under threat over few crew members of Haas and McLaren suspected of Covid-19 attack.

Maybe. Maybe not. The picture will become clearer on 14 March after the IPL council meeting. Meanwhile, the picture below from ESPN Cricinfo shows the effect it's having on the cricket world.

Our company is asking employees from Germany (Europe) return as early as possible.
We are checking our flight options this weekend! How is the waiting time for screening at the airport? Mentally preparing for 5 hours!

re: The Coronavirus Thread

Is there some kind of censorship regarding press reporting of coronavirus cases in India? Last night, the number of confirmed infected cases was 62. Today afternoon, the tally increased to 73. But I could not find territory wise data of the new 11 cases. Like, in which state, city, area the new cases belong to. Why is there no reporting on region-wise increments except just the numbers?

re: The Coronavirus Thread

My son says at NIT Trichy all hostel students who visit hometown and return are screened before being allowed to enter campus. And that NIT Calicut has advised hostel students to avoid going home or visits by relatives from home to hostel for the near future. Hopefully all educational institutions are following similar precautions.

Can someone identify where in Kerala the 14 cases are located? In TN the reported case (construction engineer returned from the middle east) is in Chennai hospital.
