I agree completely. After being on this site... the auto mags seem like filmfare to me... get the picture?

I used to buy six auto mags every month from mid 2007. By Mar'08 just Auto car (as I had already subscribed for it). Now after the purpose had been served still with T-BHP.
Browsing through the mag all I can think is "so, finally these guys have come to know of it as well, ....Just that the info is a month late.

Team-BHP & your Indian car magazine Purchase

Have been a regular reader of Autocar India for the past 12 years. Had even subscribed but found the delivery times to slow and hence didn't re-subscribe and would buy a copy fresh off the newstands.

But of late(last 3 months) have realised that there is nothing new in the magazine for me to read. Every scoop, review, news piece etc. has already been read online on Team-BHP. I still end up buying Autocar India for old times sake but there is nothing much to read and it is just placed in the magazine stand in the loo.

I for one have gotten so addicted to the unbiased reviews, advice, news pieces etc. on Team-BHP that i just can't keep away from it.

So wanted to know how many fellow bhpians go through the same ordeal?
have you stopped buying an indian car magazine post Team-BHP?
Do you get to read something new or different in them?
Would love to know.

Re: Team-BHP & your Indian car magazine Purchase

I stopped getting magazines a couple of years ago, thanks to TBHP. The only magazine I would buy on and off , as of now is BSMotoring(because of their style and content), because the others offer nothing which I already dont know.

Re: Team-BHP & your Indian car magazine Purchase

I for one, used to buy Auto India, Bike India and ACI every month, and occasionally, used to buy Car India and other auto mags, but after getting addicted to Team-bhp few years back, stopped buying all of them.

I still have a huge collection of them with me, but I do not plan to buy them any more.

Re: Team-BHP & your Indian car magazine Purchase

I used to follow the Auto India magazine religiously, right from my childhood. I still remember browsing through the pages of the magazine, sitting on my father's lap, when I was 3 years old.

But, we stopped buying car magazines since Aug 2007. Though most of the auto magazines won't give unbiased reviews like T-BHP, I read them when I get bored while sitting at the service centre, friend's house etc.

Imagine you use to follow AI from your childhood, and today Team-BHP has taken over.

Re: Team-BHP & your Indian car magazine Purchase

There are lot of fond childhood memories associated with Auto India.

I was always a petrol head ( OT: when I was in UKG, dad asked me what gift i want if I come first in class - I told him I want a Swaraj Mazda ) but being from a very interior village in Kerala, there were no automobile books or any other sources to quench my thirst.

I first saw Auto India when I was returning from a temple visit with my grand mom, and I somehow pestered her to buy it for me - IIRC, I was in 10th std then - there was no looking back after that.

When I started my collage, I used to save up every paisa, and used to buy any old copies I can lay my hands on, from the road side book shops at Swaraj Round, Thrissur.

Every time when I buy a new issue from a book stand, I used to tell my parents that I brought it for 5 rs from road side book shop - I was always afraid that they will scold me if they come to know that I am using my pocket money to buy lunch to buy new issues of Auto India They were not much interested in reading them, so they never found out if the issues were new or old.

Ah, the sweet old days...

Re: Team-BHP & your Indian car magazine Purchase

I usually buy What Car or Autocar India but only when I am travelling. They make good reading while in the train or at the airport. Only problem is the vendors usually stack old copies and the latest ones are hard to find.

I find What Car good.

Re: Team-BHP & your Indian car magazine Purchase

Well, as for me. I get all the necessary auto information from TeamBhp website and I only refer to these magazines or newspaper reports to get to know the local dealers in the area. TeamBhp for 30 min after lunch is what I do, to get to know the daily updates.

Prasad

Re: Team-BHP saving my money on Auto magazine

Same here, from school days used to follow car mags, collect the center folds, and drool at anything from Ford Taurus to Merc Estates. But now dont have any need to buy them anymore because you know why. Well, one more reason is that some Auto mags are actually subscribed by our office!

Re: Team-BHP saving my money on Auto magazine

Whenever I visit Hypercity near my vicinity, I immediately head first to the magazine sections and start to browse the Auto magazines. After flipping a couple of pages I get bored (because of so many ads) I remember I have a better magazine at home - Team BHP. Once home its then switch on the laptop and start browsing the forum.

Just wondering when is T-BHP coming out with its own magazine?. Would like to see it share the shelf with others.
