This post is only to make you aware of their practices to lure customers in the name of trial offer.
Plus, I can only imagine the quality of customer service when they have a huge customer base.

I’d stay away from jio fibre.
Super answer to my yet unasked question. Thank you

I came to this thread looking solution for a dilemma between Airtel Xstream & JioFiber in Thane. So your post was custom made for me.

The terms are indeed ambiguous about the deposit and it's amply clarified with your experience.

Do you know if one does not avail the free offer, is the 1500/- amount fully refunded?

Did JioFiber team install a dual band router or single band one?

On this thread, there are many statement about consumption calculation being higher than expected. Did you experience the same?

Re: Reliance Jio Fiber reviews, pros & cons

Pankaj,

I will request you to recheck. I had availed a free trial in Oct 2020 and my initial impression was that they have refunded me only Rs 500. However, few days later when I was going through my bank statements, I came across a separate credit of Rs 1,000.

I am using JioFiber, currently in the trial period, max speed I got was ~180Mbps, usually stays around the 150Mbps mark guessing that's the max limit for the basic router(not the 4k STB).

While booking they explained quite clearly that 1500 includes a non-refundable installation charge of 1000 and refundable 500 security deposit. I had a smile on my face because I was actually waiting what could be the catch but I don't have any issues with it since it was cleared before signing up.
IMO its fair enough.

1. Don't think so, once you've paid and its installed you'll get 500 back. If it isn't installed then I guess they should refund but ask your service-guy specifically.

2. Yes its a dual band router, creates 2 networks JioFiber-XYZ and JioFiber-XYZ_5G.

Moving away from the question itself but coming to experience :
  • Speeds are good and as promised.
  • IMO biggest plus is that its prepaid and not much difference between annual and monthly plans so you can experiment on a per month basis to find the optimal speed and plan. I will try the 399/30Mbps first else will go to 699/100Mbps.
  • They have a cool mesh component as well called JioExtender. The router supports it so you just buy a JioExtender for 2499, pair it with the main router via LAN once and then place anywhere you are able to get the main signal and extend your network there. Will most likely buy that. Although its only available for the basic router and not the STB.
    Check it out : JioExtender

Is this the 699+gst plan or the 999+gst plan?
I opted for 999/- plan.

One must not expect refunds from the 'company' in question, even if their sales, customer service or technicians commit.

I hardly used it for couple of weeks, speeds were OK but did not care about consumption etc because from day 1 because I was not satisfied with the placement of the router. The technician, despite my ask, did not take the trouble of placing the router where I wanted. He simply wanted to place where it was easier for him to install.

Dual band, as mentioned in the above post - creates 2 networks - 2.4gHZ and 5 gHZ

On checking with couple of other neighbours, they too have had similar experience as me with refunds. Jio cares too hoots about customer service. They only want volumes of customers.

Customer support of Local ISP has significantly improved with the entry of Airtel and Jio as competitors. Its good for me actually.
Have a look at the plans of my Local ISP.

Plus they have their office with their technicians, sales etc very close to my home. If at all there is any issue with the connection, I can call or even visit their office to complain. They are responsive.
Whereas, Jio, you call customer service and you are left to wait in situations if you face connectivity issues, especially during WFH situation as it is now.

I had the same experience. They refunded only Rs500/-. The moment I got to know they refunded only a partial amount(which was a week after the credit), I reached out to their customer center and got the remaining Rs1000/- back too. But what an unethical company! So they bank on the customer to somehow overlook the fact he/she was shortchanged, so they pocket Rs1000/-
I guess all those equity sales were not enough to shore up their balance sheet.

Re: Reliance Jio Fiber reviews, pros & cons

We had three major disruptions in the Airtel line, so I just paid JIO 399 plus taxes (on the device that was lying idle for months). It was a pleasant experience. Speed are good, TV and four laptops run very well. Data is unlimited. So I'm thinking of going JIO all the way. This is straightaway 50% savings

Re: Reliance Jio Fiber reviews, pros & cons

Just a caution to anyone who might want to access old invoices or bill details for Jio Fiber, that you won't find anything over 6 months old. I tried on the app and online, then reached out to customer care, and finally escalated until I was told that anything over 6 months gets purged from their systems forever. These guys don't seem to have a well considered Records Management policy.

Did you have to pay any minimum commitment charge for the period when you kept it idle?

Is there a time limit between which you have to recharge else it may get disconnected?

Yes. That's good to hear for having it as a secondary option - recharge only when required.

Approximately how many months would it have been idle?

Not OP but I had taken the Jio box last March when it was being launched as introductory free. I've had a ~ 6 month idle period in between where I was using something else but this still works fine when I recharge it now.

Re: Reliance Jio Fiber reviews, pros & cons

My 699 plan Jio plan with CST and GST comes to 744 rs, I recently observed a new component "RSIL FinInstlmnt 01M" of 80rs has been added to a total payment of 824 Rs, does anyone know what this component is. I looked on the internet and many others are having the same issue with no answers.

A sample of the charge from a bill, another consumer posted.

Re: Reliance Jio Fiber reviews, pros & cons

Hello!

Can anyone using jio TV set top box remote let me know how to configure the A,B,C,D buttons which act like shortcuts to open apps? I configured them initially when I got the connection but now I need to change some shortcuts and I’m at my wits end to get it done but not able to find that option.

Thanks.

Re: Reliance Jio Fiber reviews, pros & cons

Guys,

I don’t know if anyone else has faced such an issue but the local Jio teams in Noida seem to be playing fraud in terms of carrying out work.

So, I requested for a temporary relocation, just 4 houses away as my current residence is undergoing renovation. An appointment was fixed for October 23 but no one turned up. Despite my being available, the Jio team (fraudulently) updated the system to state that I was not available and had asked for the relocation to be put on “hold”!

Yesterday I receive a call from an unknown number asking for my personal details supposedly for the relocation and I naturally refused to share personal details over a call since all of them were already uploaded on the app.

Now after 7 days and numerous complaints to the Jio call center, I am still waiting for the relocation which apparently remains on ‘hold’. E-mails to some senior officials (on their e-mails found on the web) have not yielded any results.

Grateful if anyone knows someone at Jio or can post this on Twitter or some other platform (my social media foot print is next to zero).

Thanks.

I’ve been using the same plan for almost a year now and my bill always is 824 inclusive of GST. Didn’t know there’s this 80 bucks component - looks like that’s some sort of a financing charge. I will also look into bill if I see such a line

Edit: Attaching my bill here, only see lines for GST.
