I have been interacting with their sales team and they are very prompt and supportive. Some feedback about their product would be great before taking the plunge. They are a startup company with a focus on sit-stand desks.
Did you buy from PurpleArk by any chance?

I'm considering between PurpleArk, ErgoYou and FlowDesk.

PurpleArk has the largest tabletop to give me enough space between my eyes and the monitor. They also provide castor wheels making it easy to reposition the table. Total is 41k for 1800*850mm Sit Stand Desk, Electric (Standard)with castor wheels.

Flowdesk seems to be much more expensive at 43,400 for a smaller table top though it has nice grooves for tablets, and wireless charging, etc. Fancy.

ErgoFlow is smaller than PurpleArk but can handle more weight on the actuators.

Re: The 'Standing Desk' Thread

Guys any suggestions on the standing mats which we can use with the desks ?
For now, I am just wearing my sport shoes

I browsed through amazon and some of them were atrociously priced (more than what my Decathalon shoes cost). Hence looking for some reasonable yet comfortable options.

Yes, I went for a PurpleArk 3 stage standing desk. I went for the 3 stage over 2 stage (almost 10k lesser) due to more load bearing capability and higher range in terms of height.

I am very happy with the delivery experience. The installation person was not very experienced, but did his job at the end.

So far having a good experience.

I have been using an Amazon Basics memory foam bath mat for the last couple of years, does the job perfectly. It's a microfiber one so easy to vacuum also. Pretty cheap as well, about INR700 I think. Give it a go, worth it for the price.

What did you get finally? Any pictures of the set up at your place?

Purple ark doesn't say if its laminate or solid wood on the table top. Flowdesk says engineered wood or solid wood. Ergoyou is all laminate.

My other question is, is it alright to trust these motors? Or go with manual to keep things simpler?

I want to declare a conflict of interest. My company Walkolution manufacturers and develops treadmill desks. I based the decision to build that particular product on my previous professional experience as a medical doctor and researcher. Walking is what keeps us healthy, not sitting, not pedaling and not standing. It would be easy for us to jump on the standing desk hype and sell standing desks instead of convincing people that they should rather walk at work. We subject our work to every scientific scrutiny, just as everything we say and write contains a scientific source.
Interesting stuff. Has anyone converted their treadmill into a work table LOL

I have an unused treadmill lying around. I wonder.

Re: Work From Home (WFH): Is this the future for many?

Guys I am thinking of getting a standing desk (height adjustable). Sitting for hours is messing up my back and legs (IT band syndrome). The cost of these desks is considerable if you compare it to the regular desks. If you are using such a desk, did you find it worth the investment? Also, pls share the name of sit/stand desk you are using.

I got Purpleark’s manual variant in August 2021. It’s laminate.

It’s a pretty good table, though I now wish I had got the electric version. Definitely get the Castor wheels, they make things super convenient.

It cost ₹31386. “Final price for Sit Stand Manual desk is
₹20450+₹720(nominal shipping)+₹2500(1800*850mm desk size)+₹1272(additional shipping)+₹1850(castor wheels)+ GST =
TOTAL *₹31386* /- Including tax and shipping.(Without installation)”

There was minor damage in the shipping where one of the corners of the table top was slightly damaged, so they refunded ₹750.

Their support was great. Even 1.5 years after the purchase, when I got somenoise coming from the lever, they helped sort it out over WhatsApp and calls (lubrication needed at one of the touch points).

I later also got a keyboard tray installed (Rife Extra Wide 28 Inch Pull-Out... https://www.amazon.in/dp/B01LN5S4FI?...p_mob_ap_share)

And an under desk cable (Under Desk Cable Management Tray... https://www.amazon.in/dp/B09Q6GPXY1?...p_mob_ap_share)

I assembled it myself, though it took me an hour and a half as I didn’t have a drill.

Definitely worth the investment in my opinion.

Bumping up an old post. Can you please provide feedback on your ownership experience?

I am on the lookout for a manual adjustable desk, visited their workshop. THe table felt sturdy. I was not too sure of the durability of the raiser mechanism. Hence the request for feedback.

Incidentally, the gearing got damaged last November(2023) - on turning the handle, only the LHS was rising while the RHS appeared jammed. I contacted Kuffalo and had the part replaced for Rs.2800, with a 1 year warranty for it. It is working fine so far.

Do checkout the IKEA range also. Their Bangalore store was not open when I bought the Kuffalo. When I visited the IKEA store and tried it out, I felt that the rotating operation was a lot smoother than that of my table. IKEA website also claims to offer a 10 year warranty but I don't know how good their service is. I was happy with Kuffalo when they attended to my complaint quickly.

I'm in a dilemma, the owner was approachable. I did check out the trotten range, the adjuster was smooth, but the increments per rotation was very low. Needs good amount of cranking to get it up to standing height.
Will take a second second look at the ikea range.

Thanks for the feedback.

Re: The 'Standing Desk' Thread

I bought a standing desk from IKEA last year, paying 30K over the regular desk price. I used it once, ended up having severe lower back pain next day. BTW, I have disk bulge.

That's the end of my standing desk journey. I keep it at seating position all the time. The desk is raised only for using it as a tripod for taking pictures now.

Re: The 'Standing Desk' Thread

@whitewing, True, the owner Anupam is prompt to reply. Customizable table top sizes, cable cutout location etc. and availability of parts is the main advantage with Kuffalo for a Bangalore based buyer since it is made locally.

Many of the brands that popped up during the Covid wave are just dropshipped imports from China. Manufacturers on Alibaba are selling dual motorized standing desks at less than $150 Ex-factory (wholesale), so even with shipping and duties, these guys must be making a nice profit! I wonder how much it costs to get an import-export license. Domain names are cheap anyway to setup an online storefront. Anyway I'm going off topic.

@Samurai. Ah, that must be the motorized version. Maybe you and @whitewing can work out a fair deal if interested.

Yes, it is the motorized version. But it is in Manipal, not Bangalore.

Thanks for the inputs.

I ended up getting an used table from a seller that I had not even actively searched for.
I had put an inquiry in justdial and was contacted by a guy who indicated that they have some surplus tables, visited their godown near kannur - not knowing they were a recycler! Turned out that they had (to my untrained eye) sturdy tables (the table tops are not in mint condition, the base frame appears to be in near mint condition).
The riser mechanism was much smoother that that in Ikea and has a sturdy cross bar, resulting in no wobble.
And it came with a surge suppressor+cabling box fitted in.
I had to take care of the table top assembly, which was straightforward, but involved some effort.

If you don't mind sharing, what was the cost for this? And does this person have different options size wise?
