Assembly was easy and the table is sturdy.
Lifting it up is pretty easy but bringing it down needs some force to be applied while engaging the lever.

The space is more than sufficient for a normal laptop but with a monitor and a keyboard, you need some wise space adjustments like moving the monitor to a side rather than keeping it at the center so that you can also move the laptop to the far end.

They have another model that is slightly cheaper than this but was out of stock when I was in the market. There is a larger one as well.

I got a manual height adjustable standing desk from kuffalo.com recently. The design is similar to the Ikea SKARSTA but with a horizontal crossbar. The pricing is slightly lower too at ~15K. A good option for those in Bangalore since it is fabricated here locally with customizable table top sizes. It takes ~35 seconds to raise the table from min to max height.

P.S: Don't mind the dangling cables. I am yet to do the cable management.

I had gotten a quote from them too and found them to be priced above competition.But they seem to be offering some tech-smarts like anti collision and a bluetooth app to control the height for the motorized version. Ikea delivers to Pune, so you can check out their range as well.

I have been looking at Featherlite, Ikea and Purpleark offerings. The price of electric desk varies with 2 stage versus 3 stage column, lifting capacity, single versus dual motor etc. Purpleark electric desks are not expensive compared to competition. For example, a premium 3 stage Purple ark desk costs around 44K all inclusive. Comparable ikea desk (IDÅSEN) is at 45K and that too much less lifting capacity.

I was surprised to see many complaints about Ikea electric desks, not very confidence inspiring.

On a different note, there is no Indian company who makes the actuators , the heart of the system. They are mostly imported from Europe or China.

I am unable to find a tall table to stand and work anywhere online. I am looking for a table size of 5’x2.5’ or 5’x3’ approx and height touching elbow roughly 48”. My productivity is suffering because I am finding that sitting down too much is leading to bad state of health.

I also want a heavy sturdy table strong enough to lean on from the elbows with partial body weight, not those flimsy weak frames that will topple over.

If you don't want an adjustable one and you know your requirements, why not get a customized one built using solid wood? I believe that will come out cheaper & solidly built.

Yes that sounds like a good option - as a matter of fact I did speak to a metal fabrication shop that did some modification work for my car recently. But I am yet to find a design drawings of folding legs I can use. Considering I live in a rental space that I change every 3-4 yrs I need folding design that can be shifted easily by packers and movers.

If we already have a sitting desk, we would not adjust height of height adjustable desk regularly. A manual would be more cost effective than an electric one. And more practical as we don't adjust height daily when we are the single user of the desk. Also the manual ones would be more easily repairable than electrico nes.

Only problem is the desk area which is not much. If you are in a habit of keeping more things in your table, then there is not much space. I have managed to keep a laptop, monitor and an extra keyboard.
I normally remove the keyboard and use the one from laptop when the table is raised up.

A lot of interior designers used the above two for office makeovers and refits.
Yes these would be chinese models but would be in warranty for a year or so.

Another idea for the future is whenever there are exhibitions for building materials etc like ACEtech etc alot of chinese vendors come to display their products there. If your city is the last leg of their tour you could buy the products at for a steal at the exhibition itself.

Thanks. Good thing with Featherlite is that they are unlikely to go out of business. So the product can be repaired

You can also switch from subscription to purchase (and use what you've already paid as credit).

I think this subscription model is great, because sometimes the dream vs the reality of a standing desk can leave quite a big chasm to cross.

Humanscale is the gold standard in ergonomic office furniture.

My company provided their Efloat electric adjustable tables in our office. My cabin has all Humanscale accessories including floating monitor arm, adjustable keyboard/mouse stand etc. All of these were imported from US when our new building was outfitted (one of the perks of working for a silicon valley company). I found these very comfortable and been using it for last 3 years.

Recently a company called S Cube Ergo (https://scube-ergo.com/) started selling Humanscale furniture and accessories in India. They have a dedicated showroom in Bangalore where you can see various options for both powered and manual height adjustable desks, ergonomic chairs and many other accessories. Looks like they now have showrooms in Hyderabad and Pune as well.

Note of caution though: they are uber expensive.
