I got it as a complimentary from Air France as I sell services to them. They have a larger model too but I am not high enough in the pecking order for that.:D

I picked up a plastic 1:200 scale model of a Lufthansa A340-600 for Euro 24. There was a larger die-cast model for Euro 159 but that seemed a trifle expensive. I love the A340's looks and four engines. Sadly 4 engines are gradually going out of fashion as most twin engine aircraft are now qualified for 6 hour ETOPS (Extended range Twin engine Operational performance Standards) and twins are as you know better at fuel burn than 4 engines.


Love those 4 big turbofans...


And that marvelous Airbus wing planform....I find aircraft wings to be works of art...


Sadly the A340-600 has not been a commercial success.

Nice choice! Looks like we have very similar taste, the A340-600 is probably my 2nd best favorite after the 747. I have ordered exactly the same one online from Germany, same scale, same airline, I guess yours is also a Limox model. However mine is the normal one and not the Bayern Munich Special Livery.

Yup. Dreamliner...Dreamliner; 747...747; A340-600 ...A340-600; Foxbat...Foxbat:) Some I wish to acquire are the Corgi WW-II propeller models - Lancaster, Mustang etc.

This one is Herpa snapfit series. Limox and Herpa are both up there in quality. I checked your web site link. What is the difference between their normal models and the ones marked premium. Thanks

Yes. Munich airport, Lufthansa shop. I really like the airline both as a customer and as a vendor. For years I have been hoping to catch a Ju-52 Junkers model that Lufthansa used to sell. On the one occasion I spotted it in Frankfurt domestic side I did not have the time or luggage space.

The premium models are more detailed (rotating turbine fans, wipers on the windshields, fine printing etc.) and are better put together with better quality plastics and packaging.

You will realize the difference when you compare the two side by side.
If money is not a constraint and you are a avid collector (both are true I suspect lol:) I strongly suggest you go for the premium ones, sometimes you can find them on discount online.

Added a 1:200 British Airways Concorde Call Sign "G-BOAF". This plane was built in 1979 (last one made) and withdrawn from use in 2003 (last one to fly also), currently at display at Bristol, England.

This is the first die cast metal model I have bought and it does have much better details than the plastic ones. Unfortunately some parts are plastic and don't fit well with the metal body.

Now I need to get my hands on a decently priced Tupolev Tu-144 1:200 Scale. Any leads will be appreciated.

Congratulations. In my eyes the Concorde was one of the most good looking commercial planes ever. At 12" long that is quite a piece of metal you have acquired. Thank you for sharing.
You could try e-bay. Some Chinese toy makers have made scale models of the Tu-144.

Thanks, this was actually bought from ebay France (using Google translation clap:), shipping costs were 50% of the cost of the model!

Couldn't find any Tu-144 at a decent price, nothing less than 50-60 Euros.

Already tried Aliexpress, all the models are pretty expensive for this model.

Added 5 more recently, all in 1:200 Scale. It seems I was lucky on my first online order from abroad when I didn't have to pay customs, after that each order has been charged 42% customs duty even on packages worth 35 Euros.
