It was superlative for its era and that's why with new CFM engines the military ones are still in service 65 years after the prototype flew. The most beautiful jet airliner in my eyes was the Vickers VC10. Sadly it was not a commercial success though it was a technical one.

Yes the 707 is one I like a lot especially in retro liveries. It looks really elegant.
I finally managed to procure a diecast one but that too is in the US.
For some reason all retro models like 707, 727, A300 and A310s are exorbitantly priced . I think they know collectors like us will be willing to pay more for them lol:

Of course, the coolest thing with the 707 is that it is the only passenger jet that did a full barrel role. All jets are quite capable of this manoeuvre, but only the 707 has actually done it!

Registered A6-EGH, I have the same exact model in a Herpa plastic model.

I received the model today and coincidentally saw one of these at Hyderabad few hours back.

Thank you for sharing the film. First time I've seen it. The incident of course is famous in aviation circles.

I had first seen this barrel roll of Boeing 707 in Discovery Channel as part of Great Planes documentary in 1990s.

In 1950s Douglas was far bigger than Boeing and everyone expected Douglas to bring first Jetliner to market but Boeing gamble paid off.

Does anyone have DC 8 model?
What is average cost of these models?

Very nice!!! Love the detailing and modelling of antennas. Does it have Emirates log painted on the belly as well?

Welcome to this thread. A few of us have this nice cute corner to ourselves. Even the Moderators leave us alone:D
You will see a swell DC-8 in post #101. On prices the two experts are Foxbat and Sandesh. But I guess a top quality plastic one will be in the US$30 range and a 1:200 diecast high quality in the US$ 50 to 80 range. But as I said we'll wait for Foxbat and Sandesh they have better data.

I don't think it does, will have to check when I return after my trip. The Plastic Herpa Model does.

Why this A320, not your usual pick for an Indian Airline?

Looks like you will have a squadron of F/A-18s soon clap:

Model cost will vary greatly depending on where you buy it (India is the most expensive usually with the least variety while in Europe and especially in the US you get great variety and cheapest prices). A plastic 737 1:200 economy model will cost you Rs.800-1000 while a Diecast 777 or 747 1:200 model might cost Rs. 4,500 - 12,000 + depending on the airline and where it was bought.

DC-8 models are not very common and the cheapest one I could find (diecast) doing a quick search was for $65 on a website in the US and $35-40 for a plastic one.

Sandesh Kanchan had enquired so here is the Dassault Falcon 7X. Not a new addition. It is about 4 years old.
Cruise speed = Mach 0.8 at altitude or ~850 kmph
Range with 8 pax = 11,000 in theory; 9000 in practice.
Scale model length 17"; wingspan 19"

Guys a new addition to the fleet this evening. I used to have a Air France Concorde which sadly got misplaced in some office shifting 8 years back. This time in BOAC colours. I don't if the Concorde prototypes flew in BOAC colors before it morphed into British Airways in 1974. By the time the aircraft got into full service in ~1976 BOAC no longer existed. Aircraft registered as G-BOAC first flew in 1975 and was nominally considered the flagship of the UK fleet of Concordes. I regret never having flown in this iconic aircraft. The fares were always too high for a small entrepreneur and my economy budget!

Looks like a very detailed 1:200 diecast model :thumbs up
I was wondering why the cockpit windows are all black?
Also why do model manufacturers make models in fictional airline liveries ?

The windows are a disappointment. The Concorde prototypes might have flown in BOAC livery - but I do not know. Certainly BOAC livery appeared in print media advertisements in the early 1970s and BOAC livery Concorde's are shown on the British Airways historic gallery. An artists rendition below imposed on a photograph.

Thank you!! I wait for the day some brand comes up with an Indian AF C-130J-30 to compliment my Indian AF C-17. I wish to have an Israeli and Jordanian camouflage C-130 in my collection as well.

I will have to build my own man cave for that first :D. A 1:72 scale CV or CVN class carrier would be huge. I will be kicked out of the house by the wife if I have something like that in the living room. Some day may be:).

The A320 in Airbus livery was airline neutral and it was a NEO so couldn't resist.:D
I like the Hogan A320's nose shape. In plastic model brands, I feel Hogan's A320 is the most perfect one.

Wow!!! Thank you for sharing the pics. It is indeed a detailed beauty and a masterpiece. Modelling of antennas makes it even more attractive.

Another fantastic one.You have some pretty unique models in your collection. Congratulations.
The registration- G-BOAC probably points to a hint - that it was originally meant for BOAC, but it went into British Airways service with the same registration in its new avatar.

Wives and the living room. God!! Mine refuses to let my aircraft and car models out of the study or TV room. My sister, daughter, mother all support her. I have threatened to strike them all out of my will:D

Thank you. I reciprocate the envy, naval aviator:)

Yes G-BOAC was a planned registration.

Thank You sir. This is one of my favorite threads in this forum. I have a very small collection of 1:500 scale models. My favourite being Boeing 707. I love Air India livery in Boeing 707. It looks class.
