While talking to my dad about importing these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-X...QQcmdZViewItem
and
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-...QQcmdZViewItem
he suggested that i pick them up from here itself because they would carry a duty of approximately 36%.Scary!Also if they assess the value of the product before slapping on the duty, this figure would be more.
What is the possibility of customs checking a courier(dhl is the carrier) and roughly how much will i have to shell out on duty?.Anyone knows about this?
Apart from that, how would the above look on the swift and is it possible to get the halo's in bangy?
Hi,
Your dad is right duty would be applicable to the tune of 37% of invoice + freight value. In addition you will also have to pay 4% octroi on cost+duty +frieght. At the end of the day it makes more sense to buy locally.
Viper
Thanks.Do you stock the halo foglamps(2nd linky)
if the courier service will bring the porducts then the duty will be impossed 100% no way u can get exempted........
Solution - get it shipped to your dad in Dubai instead. From Dubai you can get stuff into India at flat rates per kg (all inclusive) if you know the people who do that.
Does that same principal apply incase I want to order for a replacement housing for my K 700i and K 750i..! Its all plastic parts..!

If you just order that...There won't be any duty IMO.
See, things are pretty relaxed nowadays. The PO customs dept doesnt go mad over a few simple things like that. I order stuff by DHL everyday. (spares, sometimes discs, sometimes stuff)
Often there is duty (which i pay happily) and more often, it's just OK. Of late I ordered 3 DVDs from Amazon, direct to my house.
They came in 10 days and there was no duty, even though there was an invoice of $70 attached (incl. P&H)
Agree with Sam. I have also ordered quite a few Audio stuffs such as CD's , Interconnects and also electronics amounting to a max of around USD200 in one invoice. All parcels within 10-12 days.
Best regards
Deepu
Thats great, guys, However just another thing to confirm, I've had bad expierence with a seller on ebay based out of chennai, sold me a fake housing advt as the real one..Ebay din't have any solution..! Now while I was working in Amex , There was a facility that if the customer feels charges are Fraud/Wrong/Or goods not delivered as promised , The company would take the charge of the account and make an investigation into the matter, So If I order these housings, Which CC will offer me a similar assurance..!

Anything above 25k INR is liable 36.xx% duty ( amount above 25k ).
