My Fishkeeping hobby

I think SunSun comes with Coarse and fine sponges. Please do check.
Bio balls are better suited for large scale filtration setups like ponds and such in my opinion.
Get ceramic rings for two trays.
Please do buy branded ones. SunSun, Boyu etc are some cheap options. Seachem, Eheim and Fluval would be premium options. You can keep carbon along with purigen or just keep purigen. Be sure to buy a fine mesh bag for purigen.
Check sites like indianaquarium, umino, easypets, aquanature to compare prices. have bought from all these sites and are trustworthy.
Looks alright. Cut out the Bio Balls (they are nitrate and detritus traps) and the activated carbon (you can keep this to use in an emergency in case something is dropped in the tank by accident, etc)
Happy New Year folks!
Moved to a new house in November 2016 so the itch and the opportunity to upgrade to a larger show tank was hard to pass.
Decided to go with a custom 250 gallon tank with the works and the possibility to switch to a marine set-up in a few months... so went with a sump - my first sump tank.
Dimension: 72" x 24" x 36"
Glass Grade: 12mm Extra Clear / Toughened
Sump: approx 400 litres (7 bulkheads)
Cabinet: Steel frame + Plywood with exhaust
Canopy: Plywood, combined 80w LED (ceiling fixtures to save cost) with exhaust
Here are some WIP pics from the install over the weekend. The tank will be cycled thrice (cycled water will be used for watering plants and domestic work per the misses) before introducing some fresh fish - mostly discus until the #AllMyMoneyGoesToCoral bug bites all over again!
This year is definitely going to be exciting on this front!
Cheers!
wow!!! that's a beauty! what are the lucky ones going inside that?
Recent snap of the tank and a more recent one of my elusive royal pleco peeking out :)
This is the plan for now using existing stuff (and then some).
Discus x 12 (To cover the middle & top)
Electric Blue Rams x 24 (to cover the middle)
Clown Loach x 12 (to cover the bottom)
Will have a lot of spiderwood (Water Azalea) with some Anubias tied to them. Ryuoh Rocks for base with white sand.
can't wait to see the final setup with fishes :) consider adding a few fancy plecos?

I am in the process of getting a new tank setup done - in all my nearby shops, all they have are pebbles, or brown colored crushed stones. Where will I find white sand ?
And how much quantity is needed ?
Tank size is 6 Feet * 20 inches * 30 inches height.

Yes I did think of adding a few exotic plecos. But not able to find good ones here and I'm honestly stopping myself with getting more fish as I want to go marine again :)
Have been drawing up the layout of the "Lost city of Atlantis" and working towards finding a local marble temple maker wala to make me some "ruins". This will be a marine layout so I'll start working on the individual pieces outside the tank :) Super excited about this one as you can tell.

Wow! I envy your patience to set up a marine tank. i am too scared to get into it. i burn enough money on freshwater so i be very scared to imagine how much i would spend on marine.
I keep seeing fancy plecos in olx at times. Mostly gold nuggets and sometimes zebra plecos. LFS here has a couple of butterfly plecos at 3k each. He had an adonis pleco but i missed buying it.

You'll be amazed at how cheap the fish have become (that's if you're looking at fancy fresh water fish). Get a decent sized sump with higher volumes and it wont seem that scary :) The amount of effort is more or less the same! GO FOR IT!
Thanks for the pep talk :) let me convince the home minister also :D
Thought of sharing pics of my very small tank... Inhabitants : 4 mollies, 1 neon tetra, 1 black neon tetra, 1 rummy nose tetra and 1 algae eater
Guys need urgent help. I am sick and tired of a new canister filter. How the heck you prime or start it the first time? I have used the button to prime thousands of time already, it looks like it starts, but just doesnt pick up. Need urgent help...!
