Over the weekend I was experimenting with some photography techniques with my scale models.

Here is one shot of my 1:36 scale model of Porsche 911 (991.2) GT2 RS:

Targetting two completely different segment of automobile buyers...

For some of you who had doubts on importing models, i got a BBR McLaren last week from Singapore. It was valued at 70 SGD and attracted a duty of 2146INR when delivered. The customs had opened the package and had cut a bag which was given as a complimentary gift by the seller in the process.

I have this 1:32 scale model of 1962 VW Microbus for a few years now, but somehow had never posted photos. So thought of sharing a few photos here.

This model is a bit special for me because back in 2019 I was invited to give a talk at VW India, and they gave this model to me as a token of appreciation. Very nice of them!

This one is loaded with nostalgia for most of us.:)

That's a huge recognition from your clients. Did it come with a base plate too? Would look nice if you share a picture of the Microbus seating on the base plate.

Does the rear hatch open? It seems there is a line over there. Who is the maker of this model? (if not made by VW themselves)

No, unfortunately it did not come with a base plate. It came just as a standalone model in a box.

Yes, the rear hatch opens. Here is a picture with hatch open (sorry for the poor picture quality as I hurriedly took it now in poor lighting conditions).



No, it is not made by VW themselves (although I would loved it to have an authentic model made by VW themselves). This model is made by Kinsmart (made in China).

Thank you for sharing the picture, this one looks really neat. I guess I have only a few Kinsmart models and a Jeep Wrangler amongst them, looks decent. I have that on the table intentionally, so that dirt accumulates with time, giving that dirt look rl: , though I tend to clean up after some days.

One of my friend arranged this Tata model and I must say that it's very well detailed and tad heavy. It would have been great if there was an authentic site from the Tatas/Ashok Leyland/Mahindra where their models are sold directly to the customer. [The M2 site from Mahindra is pretty outdated and contains the same old stuff, since ages]

Wow! This Tata Prima model looks lovely. It is rare to see such good models of a Tata truck. Nice to see this.

Nice! In fact, I have a Kinsmart 1:32 scale Jeep Wrangler too, and I love that model.

I could not resist taking that with me in my backpack in my recent trip to a resort in Kerala. I drove there in my real car but I also had this "Jeep Wrangler" with me. I could not resist taking a few photos of this 1:32 Jeep Wrangler there while taking pictures of my 1:1 scale real car there. rl:

Aha, the Camo Jeep from the Kinsmart. I guess there is a versions A and B, one being the soft-top and then there are a few other camo color variations.

Somewhere in the past, I had downloaded the inventory of Kinsmart Jeeps but then realized that online, these are damn expensive, and locally, these are not available.

Nice photoshoot you did while on your Kerala trip. The natural light and the vibrant background have worked wonders on the image. Thank you for sharing.

That is a lovely Jeep Wrangler Dr AD. I just love jeeps and am going to hunt this one up for my scale model collection.:)


To avoid back to back posts, I am adding some of my recently purchased scale models’ photos here. All are 1:64’s except for the lovely Porsche 356 which is 1:43.

The first model of my collection completed 3 decades last month. It was offered as a subscription gift from Overdrive auto magazine in 1992. It is a 1:24 scale model.
