Re: The Scale Model Thread

I also got back to the Hotwheels and Tomica bandwagon few months ago. Instead of buying online, I buy my cars from sellers on Instagram. The buying process is very smooth and the cars arrive well packed as well.

Recently I bought a Hotwheels Premium Knight Rider KITT. Bought it on Wallmart online and had it shipped to a friend's place in the US. He bought it back with him.

The other KITT Super Pursuit Mode model that you see on the right was bought from an online store in India.

I was so disheartened when I saw the state of it that I didn’t even attempt trying to put it together.

Maybe, I can glue back the mirrors and the steering wheel. Not sure what I can do with the trunk and the bonnet as they were openable parts.

Or I might just display them just the way it is..

This is how its supposed to look..

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Here are a stack of Citroens…

As Ive said earlier I love this marque for its practicality, suspension and innovation and many other things.

The A Type and The Ami - Both in 1:43 by Norev

The Magnificent Futuristic DS by Welly in 1:32 - this is a truly iconic car for me because it saved President Charles De Gaulle from an assassination attempt - beautifully portrayed in the iconic film The Day of the Jackal (1973). One of my all time favourite films ever.

One 2CV by Schuco in 1:64 from the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only

Multiple 2CV’s, Meharis and Traction Avants and a couple of C5’s - all by Norev in 1:64.

The 2CV and its unique indelible connection with rural france.

The Mehari and its amazing relevance to the Sahara and Le Maroc and L’Algerie and Paris-Dakar and Sidi Bel Ebbes and all.

I love the Traction Avant too - so far ahead of its time with its front wheel drive and monocoque construction and suicide doors and superb low slung classy shape and immense road holding capabilities. As exemplified beautifully in La Voiture de la Resistance in the lovely film The Great Escape and of course in the incredible TV Serial - Inspector Maigret.

And as a small bonus, for interested folks, here is a picture of a real life 2CV which was displayed at the showroom in Madras and a real life Traction Avant which was displayed at the Showroom in Bangalore at the time of Citroen’s launch last year.

Scale Model Cars. I think this is my favourite hobby of all.

It is an even more heartbreaking sight to see then, to see it in such a state as it has such lovely detailing and features on such a tiny model. Now it is even more evident that it was done on purpose by those rascals. The bonnet and trunk especially would never snap off on their own like that.

I guess the he only way you can try and salvage something as far as the bonnet and trunk are concerned is to open the model fully and try to figure out a way to fit the bonnet & truck from the inside out.

May be you could try and use blu-tack(Faber Castell Tack-it) to fix them too? Unlike glue, blu-tack won't be permanent and you can open the bonnet and trunk when you want to. I use blu-tack to fix loose landing gear or weapon attachments on my aircraft models and it works well.

I hope you are able to fix it back because it is a lovely model. All the best!

Re: The Scale Model Thread

A question to fellow enthusiasts.

I recently painted my house and I am looking for some nice wallpapers or scale models specific to India's defence forces. I want to know where I can get a scale model of our Tejas LCA, Rafale, Sukhoi, or Arjun tank, or any of the vehicles used by army and some good engineering blueprints or schematics of our Planes and Ships that I can put on the walls.
My only condition is they should be authentic and very detailed. For wallpapers, it should be crisp and clear.

Thanks in advance!

Another bunch of scale models.
Basically bunching up the Military and Quasi Military ones because I am a bit of a Colonel at heart.
And as usual I dont like removing the blister packs.
1947 Willys in 1:43
Sarge and Sad Sack and their Willys 1:32
Laurel and Hardy and their Willys 1:32
A Quasi security/ military Landrover open top 1:64
A Jeep Gladiator 1:64
A Quasi security/ military Landrover 110 1:64
The MASH Jeeps - 2 of them 1:64
Willys Scout Jeep WW2 1:64
Willys Command Car WW2 1:64
Willys Jeep 1945 1:64
Willys Jeep Gun Carrier 1952 Korean War 1:64
Military Fuel Tanker by Oxford Diecast in 1:43
Camouflage Military Fuel Tanker by Oxford Diecast in 1:43
US Army 6x6 Fuel Truck WW2 1:64
US Army Olive Green Fuel Truck WW2 1:64
US Pearl Harbour Truck WW2 1:64
US Army Ambulance WW2 1:64

I think all of these vehicles of war / martial machines deserve a space on this thread too because it is a generic scale model thread. And not everyone is going to be interested in or visit the dedicated Planes and Ships and Military Vehicles thread.

So here are a bunch of Tanks, Half Tracks and Aircraft from the era of WW1 and WW2.

WW1
The Red Baron - Von Richtofen’s Fokker Triplane
Sopwith Camel (Biggles’ Camel in my imagination)

WW2
M16 Half track
M1 Abrams Tank
Couple of Sherman Tanks
A German Leopard tank

Messerschmitt BF109
Supermarine Spitfire
De Havilland Mosquito
P51 Mustang

Aaaaarrrggghhh!!!! No. No. No. A car should not be allowed to be so beautiful. Oh my Gwad. Wow. Exquisite. Flawless. The scale model is more gorgeous probably than the real thing. Congratulations SnS_12. Your model is to die for and your photography is top class.

Thank you once again Sir..

I am sure the real car will me more beautiful to see as its a S-Class with just two doors and is powered by a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 rated at 630 PS (621 HP / 459 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque.

It was also the first Maybach drop-top since the 1930s as the Maybach brand was revived by Mercedes in 1997 after more than five decades.

You have to be extremely lucky to see one in real though as the actual car had a limited production run of just 300 units...

I saw a Honda just like this, in station wagon form in Paris sometime in 2019…
I never knew that Honda made such fab cars!

Looks like a heavily modified Honda Civic Station Wagon from the 80’s. Also, the steering wheel is definitely from one of the recent Honda cars. Looks like a good job with just two doors minus the stickering.

Owned by a couple of fashion designers who were getting ready for a show at a boutique near the Picasso museum. They had driven down across the Chunnel that very afternoon, from London. Heck of a cool car I thought it was.
