I quite liked the Duster scale model. Where did you buy it from?

Can buy it from alldiecast.co.uk

Incidentally there is a nice shop in Melbourne called Model Mania which sells brilliant scale models.

And there is another brilliant Hobby Shop in Sydney in Queen Victoria Market which sells lovely scale models.

Our own India's Hobby Centre, sadly is nowhere as well stocked as it used to be when I was a kid in the '70's.

I won this Duster Model through a Twitter contest organised by Renault India during Duster's launch. Incidentally, their Social Media Agency goofed up and did not send me the same for 3 months. After that I shot a mail to Sales and Marketing division of Renault India and they sent me two scale models instead of one along with a Renault F1 Pen Drive.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

And finally after years of viewing this thread - I finally decided to shoot some of the wheels that lie scattered around our home and... getting under my feet.

Here's the first of them.

The Scale Model Thread-dsc01527.jpg
The Scale Model Thread-dsc01525.jpg

My vintage Land Rover Defender 110. From the late 80s I guess.
LHD it is for sure.
The Scale Model Thread-dsc01494.jpg

It's an 1:43. Picked it up years ago from a small shop in Slough, UK.
The Scale Model Thread-dsc01503.jpg

And why this - as a first offering on this thread ?
I love the exquisite detailing all around and underside too.
TC, fore & aft prop shafts, muffler, cat con, suspensions, axles...all of them seem to be there and in good shape.

The Scale Model Thread-dsc01521.jpg
The Scale Model Thread-dsc01523.jpg

Even the ORVMs look great and well...functional !
The Scale Model Thread-dsc01500.jpg
The Scale Model Thread-dsc01509.jpg

I have tried to keep it as stock as possible.

And like many Defenders of the day - this too has been thoroughly abused and yet has managed to hold its ground. Though its age is showing - it only adds to the charm.

Of all the pieces lying around - I guess I like this the best.
Couple of months ago I moved in fast and placed it on the endangered species list and now no one is allowed to touch it and is now for viewing only.

I was tempted to put this piece up in the LTOR section but better counsel prevailed.
The Scale Model Thread-dsc01496.jpg

Au revoir till the next piece !

Dear Neil,

Bought this scale from ebay.us and got it shipped to one of my relatives in US, he was due for a visit to India, and came along with the scale, however 1:18 diecast and 1:24 RC model of (Bentley CSS)are very much available here in my hometown, but I had also been specific about 1:24 and virtually had to wait over 2 months for having a possession.

- Regards,
Abhishek Khanna

Thanks Abhishek. Ive only found RC Bentleys in 1:24 scale here in Bangalore.
Looks like I will have to wait for my next trip to the US to pick up a Bentley.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Dear Patrons, friends and well-wishers,

Right on the heels of consignment three is the next! And a whopping 46 new scale models from Germany! In one of our similar issues in the past, I recall dedicating the first page to the 'Stars of the consignment'. But in recent times, every new model that comes in, is special.

Now that Scale 43 has joined the mainstream of Autofest City, we have bridged numerous gaps that would never be filled otherwise. The best part however, is that there is always some automobile waiting to be discovered, followed by the thrill of tracking it down on the Net and adding it to our collection! So that's how we see Autofest City growing from this point.

Here is the link to download our January issue :
https://www.box.com/s/hx0kep2cgin34x6r2o2j

Do visit our web-album : www.picasaweb.google.com/autofestcityindia for detailed photographs of the new entrants, with every issue.

Happy motoring (with Autofest City)!

Warm regards,
Neil D'Costa
