Team-BHP - The Scale Model Thread

Hamleys at Whitefield in Phoniex Market city Bnagalore is the new spot to find diecast models from Motor Max, Welly, Maisto and Bburago. They have the Zonda 1:24 in red apprx Rs 800/-, i almost picked it up but put it back as wanted it in 1:18 to match my existing collection.
Will need to visit it once in a while to keep an eye.
The 1:18 from motor max were just under rs 2000/-.

@Parthasarathig- next to the diecast section they have the model buldling kits, but they are very limited mainly from Academy. No Tamiya or Airfix. If interested in slot cars, they have Scalextric. They did have a Hornbys Train set.
Airfix is is available at Saffire (richmond road-some new kits added) and ModelArt.
I wish they would get Tamiya RC Kits and Model kits with all the paints and stuff.

Mumbai Guys, i need urgent help !! I was playing with the Willys Scale model which was on my Manager's desk ( he was not around ) and It fell down and the windshield broke :D. I need to get a similar one by Monday before he comes in to office. Do you know of any shop which has a Willys scale model in military color in stock ?

Jokes apart what scale was that jeep. IIRC New ray Willys might be available locally, the size is approx. 5.5 inches, Hope this helps.

What else is more precious to a scale model collector than his very own precious die-cast metal car. Yesterday was made doubly special when i chanced upon a 1:18 scale of a Bentley Continental Supersports by Welly.

We all know how difficult it is becoming to source a good quality scale model from the local stores that are out there. Maistos and Bburagos have lost their sheen and now are at the lower end of collectible brands.

For me, Welly was a brand that had always maintained a perfect balance between quality & price. My last Welly model was bought nearly 2 years ago and I was pleased with its quality at that price point. And I am glad to say that they have maintained that balance till date.

The SS is surprisingly well made, feels solid and premium when held. No squeaking parts and unacceptably uneven panel gaps to be seen anywhere. Quality if plastics used is also great & the paint finish is a thumbs-up

Hell, it even has a working suspension -- overall put a smile on my face clap:

I own my fair share of Auto Arts, Minichamps & other premium quality brands, and I am glad to say that for Rs. 2999, Welly sure gives them a good run for their money.

PS: In the last pic, the spoon shaped plastic stick thingie came alongwith the box (was neatly wrapped & taped to the bottom of the plastic base). No mention of it on the box either & I have no idea what it is. Any insights anyone?

I too found the same taped to the bottom of my recent 1:24 Range Rover acquisition. Initially I thought it might have been provided to help unscrew the car from the stand but that doesnt seem to be likely.

Hmmmm, could be. I cant think of any other application for it. But if that's the case, i would have expected it to have a more sharper edge. Probably not as sharp as to scratch the metal, but sharp enough to easily go into the thin seams to help them pry open. The edges seem pretty thick to me + whats with the hexagonal-long handle? Looks like there's more to it.
