I buy the kits from Ebay USA. I have been using Tamiya paints which are available from the Tamiya dealer in Gurgaon. As for the finish I learnt it all from the videos on youtube. They are great and really helpful for people like us who are just starting off.

Can you post a picture of your kit? As in all that you use for painting? I wish i could pm you as I had a lot of questions.

Btw importing from ebay usa does it come to be cheaper than what the tamiya dealer is selling here?

This is my latest F1 model the 1951 Alfa Romeo 159 Alfetta which won the F1 world Championship that year driven by the great Juan Manuel Fangio.

This was made from a REVIVAL 1/20 kit.

As long as whatever you need is available in India, I wouldn't advise getting it from eBay USA, unless you're getting it delivered to someone's home there n asking them to bring it for you. Spray cans cannot be brought personally due to some toxic hazard regulations. Ebay USA is good only if you are ordering kits. For decals, get them from HK, Singapore or China based sellers-the shipping cost is very less. Other than that, I'd advise you stick to buying from the Tamiya Store in Gurgaon.

PS - If at all you order something, choose EMS as shipping option. Even if the item reaches India in 2 business days, the customs ensure you get it a few weeks later. So there's no point paying the extra buck for express delivery.

Kudos to your kit building skills ! I haven't seen such a fine kit builder in India yet (unavailability of Spray cans be equally blamed for that :P). How long have you been in this hobby?
Also do you use any primer before spraying the plastic body? And a clear coat / modelling wax after decals?

My 1955 VW Beetle - Bburago

After two Honda bikes, my 3rd addition and 1st car: The Mercedes-Benz 300SL, also called the "Gullwing". Scale 1:18 by Bburago.

A breath of fresh air in smaller scale models market - Funskool has launched German brand Siku that specializes in scale models in the range of 1:50 - 1:87 and mostly heavy vehicles and farm equipment. I specially like smaller scale models and there is limited availability of these in Delhi atleast.

First purchase was a truck-trailer with a loader - detailing is quite good for a 1:87 and the loader even has rubber tyres, plus the loading arm moves up and down (not the plough itself though - but then can't expect that much from a 1:87). There is even a foldable loading ramp. Though there is no windscreen or lights in either. The truck and trailer are mostly metal and are quite heavy for their size.

Recently bough a Unimog fire truck and a CAT Dumper. The Duper bed can be tilted and this model has tyres that look exactly like rubber tyres but are actually plastic - the Unimog on the other hand has rubber tyres, plus a windscreen and side windows. After detailing, I look for rubber tyres in a small scale model.

Thank guy. The Alfa Romeo came pre painted. As for the others, I do use primer and then sand it using a 1000 grit emery before painting. I usually apply 2 thin layers of colour. Then apply the first coat of clear and sand it again with 1000 and the 2000 grit emery. Then apply the decals and clear coat it with couple of thin layers of clear. I check for and rought surfaces that time and see if i need to sand again.

Just be careful no to apply thick layers of paint. They end up covering the fine details like rivers and some times leave bubbles in the paint.

I started this last year in December and learnt everything from you tube videos. They are just great. The Tamiya paint are really great.

I buy my stuff from Ebay cos the Tamiya store in delhi has mostly aircraft and war related stuff and I found it to be cheaper even with the shipping to buy from Ebay. But the paints are cheaper from the dealer in delhi.

Does this one have brake calipers? In the first batch of Aventador, Bburago neither had calipers nor ventilated discs.
The second lot had calipers & discs but they haven't hit Indian shores yet. :Frustrati

That's cool. I've seen Chyrsler, RAM trucks, Chevy & other American companies having such special freebies for their existing customers and reaching out to them via social media. Good to see Indian companies catching up.

It does have brake calipers, chromed ones. Over all this concept has fairly good level of detailing.
