Where do you buy these scale models from? Online or nearby stores?

I am planning to buy a Murcielago SV scale model (it'd be better if I find a RC for an extra thousand bucks).

I have always found it hard to save my pocket money for these things. Happily I have just over 2k left in my savings. Could you suggest some good stores in NCR where I can find these cars? I have tried my luck at stores in Noida, but could only find Gallardos or Audi R8s! Want either a Murcie or an 458. Could you help me out before my money gets spent on other things? Thanks! :)

These days most of my purchase are done on WWW.

Just for your records RC models are usually not build to a particular scale and not replcate the real thing as honestly as a diecast model.

You can find diecasts in the toy section of most of the Super stores like Shoppers stop, standard max etc. You can try GIP in sector 38, there are number of toys shop in the Mall where you can find diecasts.

2k is good enough for a 1:18 budget scale model, this kind of money can surely get you a Maisto/Bburago Murcielago but a normal LP-640 not SV, as SV is build by either Norev or Autoart and both these brands are not available locally. As for 458 you only have the option of having one in 1:24 scale as 1:18 is only build be Hotwheels and to collector's bad luck even they are not available locally.

Triumph Daytona 675 in 1:10 scale by Welly, I already had one in 1:18 scale in the same color but these 1:10 scales are just too detailed to let go by, apart from this I have a R1 and CBR1000RR in this scale.

Two weeks back, I visited the Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA. They have a HUGE collection of scale models of cars, bikes, ships, character and mostly flying objects. Am sharing the pics I took there.

That's a nice collection, I especially like the fact that he has collected models with relavence to India. I like his tractor collection, those look nicely detailed, were they metal. I want to have few tractors in my collection too.

Yes ve wery much like your image. We always look forward to them. I have 1:10 maisto and is nicely detailed, think welly would be a notch above.

Wow very nice stuff, I am loving it. I like to build kits and have build a few. Most of the stuff is the kits, the plastic ones. Man the build quality is simple awesome for them. I am way behind in my builds.

I like the Honda RC 166 bike in maroon (by tamiya) is looking awesome.

Do you have more on the kit bikes and cars (we like planes and boats but not much).

The Museum also had kits being sold that once could assemble and put on display at the Museum. All the models that you see on those tables are contributed by various people. The sheer number of those models was so huge that it would take anybody days to look at each one properly!

I kind of like the work done by them, they are good at that. The other thing is the availability of tools and supplies. In India leave aside these even kits are rare to find (only recently we get to see the tamiya dealership).

And yes the numbers are huge, wish we had a simiar display / exhibition in India too.

Finally I found the Scale Model collection thread, that too on the second page, buried amongst some really fantastic threads. Whew.

First of all, a big thank you to Manish (Manishalive) for guiding me to buy a scale model that I had missed buying on numerous occassions, one of the first being a GATE model offered with an Autocar / Overdrive subscription sometime in 1999 - 2000. After that this model vanished only to reappear in Auto Art's latest catalogue as well as on EBay where it is priced at a whooping $200+.

Manish informed me of Solido's models and based on that, I decided to buy this one.

Yes. I was finally able to procure a historically important model that is also a World War-II hero: the 1942 Willys Jeep in 1:18 scale by French scale model maker Solido. The jeep is very well detailed and superbly finished in matt olive green.

Wah Amar babu Bhadiya hai (very nice). I am loving the jeep, it is so nice and at that price it is a steal. Your pictures have come out very nice. I love the details on the jeep. This one of the great purchases that you got here.

Hello everyone

Its been a while since posted in any of the forums due to work related issues. In the meanwhile I feel good to reached my 1st 50 of die cast model collection.

The display rack has been custom made by me using waste packing wood.

the 2nd target of 50 is in the process with the humble blessing from my home minister :)

Very nice collection Mridul. The joy of collecting die-cast models is simply a charm in its own. I also like the fact that you created the shelf by yourself. Shows your involvement and the passion that has gone behind it.

Just a suggestion - Would be great if you can come up with some closed showcase or almirah kind of a thing to safeguard your beauties from dust and also from falling.

Thanks. I did try to put it in an enclosed shelf but dust used to creep in. Hence I stuck to have an open shelf, as my sunday's are spent in cleaning them.
