Re: The Scale Model Thread

Quite right. But this is only for the elite, super rich: many of whom are not even aware what fuel their car runs on!

Besides, the duty structure in our Hindustan makes this hobby very expensive and that is to blame. Chec out Ebay for example: if you pay $50 for an Auto Art model, you have to pay an equal amount to get it here,i.e. you pay double for the model. This is what makes this hobby expensive.

Here, it is only a true enthusiast who, despite his limited resources somehow "manages" to keep his hobby alive and this itself is very exciting!

The downside is, CMC's average costs are 400 USD. But their ONE shark nosed F1 models will be enough for tons of AutoART/Minichamps.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Superb Montreal Manish. I got to see one yesterday at Rakhesh Mehta's Automania and though the model looked very tempting, resisted buying it.

It is difficult to hold back when you come across something like this Alfa!

Good photography nevertheless.

By the way I clubbed the Lamborghini Miura by BBurago which is also in orange.

So here you go with the two Bertone beauties, need we say any more.

Amar, Please do not hold back if finances permit. This one is awesomely detailed (better than the MGB). So you will not regret a beautiful piece of history.

What Should I call you, red or Devil. Any way Welcome to the forum.

You have some amazing stuff with you, altough I do not collect planes but I like your fighter planes.

The yellow beetle I too had and was from Overdrive subscription.

What make is your 250GTO and the Willys jeep, both are on my radar for a long time.

The lancia is one amazing model to have and if i am not worng has got amazingly detailed engine, why don't you show off details pictures of your collection like interior shots, engine bay etc. etc.

All in all very good collection you have.

On the other note have ordered for this model which is what we relate too (work on them). G3516 Gas engine. The one that I have currently is a 3516 Diesel engine with generator.

The basic Iron remains the same between diesel and Gas but what makes it different is the accesories (for fuel delivery, sparking), bigger turbochargers with waste gate or compressor by pass, a carburettor, pressure regulator, solenoid valve, etc etc.

This engine is "A" series, we have now moved on to "C" and "E" series which are completly electronic engines with no mechanical carburettor or so.

Any way A Gas engine is a Gas engine, and I do have some of these engines still running in my territory, this model will be a nice thing to have.
I thank my boss for making indent for these models .
Left side is the front of engine with a cage for the damper, Gas engine have remote mounted radiator, since heat rejection is more the radiators are bigger and it is never driven by engine pulleys/ belts as in diesel engine.

On this model on the extreme left you can see an ECM or EIS (for Electronic Ignition system).

A white box in the middle for the detonation sensor.

Next to that on top a 90 deg bend pipe which is carburettor.

In the middle bottom (just below the white box) is the Pressure regulating valve and next to it is the Solenoid valve.

Extreme right black box is the Junction box and above that is the Hour meter.

The extreme right top circular thing is the Air filter, behind that is the Turbo charger. Between the two pipes for the Aftercooler (the rectangular box) you can see the waste gate for the turbo.

This model is one of the nicely detailed one. Lastly sorry for boring you all guys with this info, I could not control my self from posting.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Hi Guys, Looking at these scale models, I am getting nostalgic, I too had many of the hot wheels when I was a child, later on they were given to my younger cousins, who later broke the cars...!!

Now I am looking forward to start collecting 1:18 scale models. Saw a few at the Auto expo, Bandra. They were by Maisto. I wasn't impressed much with the finishing.

Any clue where can I get good quality models. I know there are various websites, but I want to see them personally before making the purchase.

Any Outlets in Mumbai/Thane/Navi Mumbai??

You can try Automania at Prabhadevi, Mumbai. The owner, Rakhesh is an enthusiast himself and has a comprehensive and large collection of scale models like Maisto, Auto Art, Kyosho, CMC, etc.

Even Hamleys, Mumbai stocks scale ,models, mostly Burago, motormax, Maisto, etc.

Manish. The Willys is a GATE model and the 250 GTO a Kyosho. If I remember right, like the VW I got the Jeep on renewal of my overdrive subscription. The GTO was brought through EBAY USA, infact most of these models were bought through ebay and shipped here. I will post more detailed pics soon. By the way how do I get in touch with you? I have sent a request on facebook. Talk to you soon.
