In an Auto Art 1:43 scale model, do the wheels steer, doors, bonnet open? These models are indeed well detailed. I have not seen a 1:43 scale model closely and therefore the question.

actually I plan to go back and buy a few more. I ve got my eye on another 3-4 of these beautiful cars. Even the 1:43 are expensive nowadays - I ve seen these Auto Art ones move from about Rs 495 upwards to 2295 each over the last 7 years or so.
But I love the quality and dont mind compromising on quantity to buy those ones that I really like, while forgoing some others.
Need to get in touch with Automania and buy those Fiats too.
cheers

in some of the AA 1:43's one is able to steer/ move the wheels this way and that. for the most part their bonnets and doors etc dont open and one cant see the engine etc. contrast this with Maisto/ Bburago where the prices are cheaper and yet the bonnets and doors etc open and again for the most part one is able to steer them etc. But their quality of overall fit and finish doesnt satisfy me the way AA does. I love AA 1:43's for their excellent quality of exterior detail and finish.
The AA 1:18 range has superb detailing inside and outside and most of those models are fully functional in terms of doors, bonnet, boot, steering etc etc.
But they come at a pretty solid price too.

1:43 Volkswagen Golf V Variant - AutoArt
1:43 Corvette 1957 SS - AutoArt
1:43 Mazda CX9 - AutoArt
1:43 Mercedes CL 63 AMG - AutoArt
1:43 Mercedes G 55 AMG - AutoArt
1:43 Nissan 370Z - Maisto

Congrats Shankar...some really delight piece of Diecast...i pick my favorite CL and G55

Thank you Mr. Shankar for the clarification. I too have a few 1:18 scale Auto Art models in my small collection of 1:18 scale cars. They are, as you said, intricately detailed and also cost a bomb. I always find them fresh whenever I look at t hem. Some posts back, I had added images of some of my rally cars (Auto Art, Kyosho, BBurago (Italy) and Maisto) and a 1956 Aston Martin in addition to a Mitsubishi Pajero, both from Auto Art.

[quote=f1fan;2298506]Don't know about the paint. they say it is quick drying paint. Can you open the box at the shop and check the paint tubs?
If you are not buying both, let me know.

bought this kit from india hobby center paint and glue are proper.

Any ideas where to find a spray can for painting the body?
as painting by the supplied brush wont produce good finish.

OT: How much did it cost to get it made? DIY or Readymade?

I got this casing developed when we were doing up the interiors of our new apartment. So, it was not a DIY. :) Since the display unit is also part of the TV unit we had gotten done, i cannot put a specific price on the display case alone.

The fact that it should have a lock was a mandatory requirement of mine. Has helped immensely when we have had guests with kids visiting. :D

Many of our guests were stunned after seeing that i got a display case made just to store my "toy" cars. :D

After laying low for a few weeks, and a patient wait, got my hands on the following beauties:

Lexus LFA - Autoart 1:18
Shelby GT500 Chrome - Shelby Collectables 1:18

Will post pics Sunday morning.

I don't know how many of you'll are familiar with the diecastxchange forum but it is one of the best forums for model collectors. Anyways they're having this event where they send a model across the world and you photograph it next to something famous in your city. So far no one from India has signed up. I would have except I am not sure I will be back home anytime soon. If anyone is interested they can get more details and sign up here.

DX 2011 "Around the World!" - Diecast Cars Forums

Here's my 1:32 collection. Will update the individual pics and the 1:24 cars soon.

If you read the fine print, only established members there can sign up for the program. Mr Winston, who is known by mod Dippy too, is an admin of DX, so I think he will be participating for India. Anyway DX is THE site for Diecast collectors world wide, but there is an awesome forum that is more India - specific: ScaleModelCarz - A forum for Indian scale model car enthusiasts.

BTW, Modelart / Creative "education" has got their new stock of Autoarts as Manish mentioned; I shall try to post the list of models here shortly.

Good news is, there are some 1/43s for 995 bucks, like the VW Polo!! The Maybachs are around 2k each.

@ Manish...this is for you. :) 1:24 Airfix.

Please ignore the red/blue sticker on the hood, those are completely removed now and next time I will hire a better camera.

The bonnet of the MG does not fit properly. Same case with my Gullwing. Looks like a common problem.:Frustrati

Lovely, lovely dude clap:. Awesome, The car has come out nicely. I have one or 2 minor suggestions, like paint etc. As for the bonnet / hood issue i think it is problem on our side, I also have slight issue with Cuda that I built. I will write a PM to you, I think I know of the solution.
