Don't dump them like that Planet_Rocker. Have some mercy on them. Gift me those Nissans, Beemers and Hummers. Let me give them a new life here in Hyderabad :D

Yes I do love 1:43 more than any other scale -
a. because they look lovely
b. I personally love the size
c. when I was a kid most of the little cars which were given to me as gifts were in this scale
d. they are easy to store and manage and one can absolutely line all the shelves in one's cupboards/ storage areas with many many 1:43 models. (I am now closing out the third cupboard with my collection of scale models and other "boy's own" paraphernalia.)
e. they are to some extent, less expensive than the 1:18 models - especially if one prefers to buy good quality scale models from companies such as Minichamps, Solido, AutoArt etc.
f. last but not least, this is the size that I sometimes like to take out and actually play with, construct scenes around, photograph and admire.

Personal preferences are personal preferences. IIRC, Shankar.balan loves collecting 1:43, not because they are cheap but because of less space needed to store them

You got to be kidding - they are MINE and i will smoke you, if you come near them :Shockked:

PS: the Junk Yard is my wifey's cabinet locker - i had to hack it when one of the scale models got stolen from the original display area. :( it was a Viper GTS

Hi all,
I came across the following 2 Airfix kits in a shop:
1. 1:43 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI WRC (2001)
2. 1:24 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII WRC (2001)
Both these kits are from 2006, but have been unopened & in very good condition as per the condition of box. But I am not sure that the colors & poly cement provided with them will be still useful.
These kits are Made In England & their respective prices are as follows:
1:43 kit - Rs. 845/- & 1:24 kit - Rs. 1710/-.
Is it worth worth buying them as Evo VI & Evo VII scale models are rare to get now ???
Here are the pics of kits which I clicked at the shop:

Don't know about the paint. they say it is quick drying paint. Can you open the box at the shop and check the paint tubs?
If you are not buying both, let me know.

Tell me about it. I had this showspace specilly designed for my scale model collection at my new house. At the design phase, i thought i had enough and more space for a lot of new arrivals. After i started arranging them, i realized i was looking at a parking space scarcity much more than the intensity that is found on the streets of Bangalore!

Needless to say, wifey has threatended me against any more new models after my scale model cars started enroaching upon other display spaces as well. :D

Same here. I have stopped collecting as there is a huge paucity of space in my showcase.
I also went a step ahead and reduced the height between shelves so that i could squeeze in an additional glass shelf in my showcase but that too got filled up in no time :Frustrati

The glue would have almost dried by now if the temperature on storage would have anytime increased by 30 deg, which I am sure would have. Similarly for the colors too. The acyrlic / fabric paint that we bought 2 years ago is dried now, but I think the paint in the kit can be diluted. Open the box and see the paint.

As for the price, it varies I got 1:24 tamiya Super 7 for around 800 bucks and then 1:24 Ferrari by fujimi for around 2000 bucks. Check ebay, you will get a price idea.

Glue is available for 30 bucks which will last approx for 5 builds. Acyrlic paints are rs 15 a bottle. Spray paint @180 / can. Hope you are getting my drift.

@manishalive

So even if the glue and paint is dried up, new paint and glue can be bought right ?

and also does this drying up thing apply to the stickering also ?

Mr. Shankar,
Please do not thank me. I just received that list from ModelArt and simultaneously read about your new additions on the forum. I have been following this thread religeously since its begining and have only started posting recently.

Had I been collecting 1:43 scale models like these. I would be king. I have restricted myself to only 1:18 scale models wherein choice is limited and a lot of financial planning needs to be done if an Auto Art, Kyosho or Minichamps needs to be procured (cimbined with a lot of justification at home!!!). All the same, excellent choice of models.

actually I plan to go back and buy a few more. I ve got my eye on another 3-4 of these beautiful cars. Even the 1:43 are expensive nowadays - I ve seen these Auto Art ones move from about Rs 495 upwards to 2295 each over the last 7 years or so.
But I love the quality and dont mind compromising on quantity to buy those ones that I really like, while forgoing some others.
Need to get in touch with Automania and buy those Fiats too.
cheers

Yes paint and glue is available locally and cheaply. yes thestickers also age, but if you are careful job can be done easily.

The AAR Cuda that I built sports white decals reason the black decal I messed up. The kit was an old stock and decals aged.

Yes those 1:43 of Autoart are the costly, but 1:43 scale has its limitations on detail. Sadly some of the models that I want to collect are available in 1:43 scale like Ambassador, Herald, the Fiats and many more. I wish some one made them in atleast 1:24 scale.

By the way your Shark is awesome. A kit car for the same is on my list.

Anyways another superb model and amazing pictures. :thumbs up

Thanks again. Yup. Around 4-5 $ including postage within the US. Placed a 1$ bid on it on www.gomotorbids.com, and won it for 1 or 2 $ and rest for combined shipping. Got 3 Autoart 1:18s for the same price too.:D

I love them!! How much did they cost?? IIRC, they used to cost around Rs 2000 in 2010. Would love to see more pics of the CL63 AMG.

Congrats!!! Take it out and give us some pics!!!! IMHO, buying 1:24s is better than 1:32s. You got your 1:32s at Rs 200 a piece, which IMO, is not VFM.
