Just curious, how do those wooden planks manage to stay intact? How have you attached them to the tyre?

Cheers!
Hi Gandalf,
Thank you! They are fixed with screws on both sides, they are black in color so they are hardly visible.

Re: Engine Table and other car-themed furniture & accessories

Got this car themed bed for my 4 year old daughter who is quite interested in cars for her age. Decided to make a car themed room for her slowly and gradually.

Re: Engine Table and other car-themed furniture & accessories

Made this today using old tires.
Paint, wood pieces, and rope we had at home. Had to buy 4 legs, screws for legs, and bolt-nut-washer sets to join tires. Wife promised to make a round cushion for the same

Total expense ~ 100 Rupees

Some paint touch up required near the drilled holes.

Re: Engine Table and other car-themed furniture & accessories

We had two more old tires at home (different size and brands). Made a coffee table and it came out good (some finishing touch needs to be done). Sunday afternoon well spent!. I had got sandblasted glass top done from nearby glass shop yesterday itself.

Total expense = 1100 Rupees (glass top 800, 4 spacers 200, and others 100).

Just wondering, don't they smell of rubber? If not, how did you manage that?

Apex Ultima Any exterior wall paint is fine I think, that is what google baba told me when I searched. Blue one above is exterior paint, but for the table (orangish) I used interior paint. We have some leftover paint at home, so did not buy any for this work. 150-200 ml required for 3 coats.

No rubber smell at all. I have a weak nose but confirmed with my family.

Re: Engine Table and other car-themed furniture & accessories

As a sucker for 5-spoke rim designs, the minute I saw these wheels on the Sai Mag Wheels website, I just had to buy them. Reached out to the owner Gautam and got to know they are only available in a set of 4. I've never believed in wheel sets of 4 and have always insisted on 5 (keeping in mind the possibility of theft, damage etc.). I keep my cars for ~10 years and the odds of getting a single piece of the same wheel in the 7th year of ownership (as an example) are next to zero.

So I did the next best thing. Bought 2 sets! 5 rims went on the Jeep, 3 are being used as decorative items in my home office. Anyone who has visited my office has complimented the look! "Really suits the Team-BHP pad" is what one person said.

Looks good, no? They look hot in the house...

Not exactly furniture, but made this display case out of an old tyre for my 1:64 scale models during lockdown

How are the legs fitted to the tyre? How do you screw it directly to the tyre sidewall without the issues with flex of the sidewall?

Drive on,
Shibu

There are small vertical wood bars inside the tire (4 in each tire), 3 cm square and 15 cm length in this case. That is mounted first and same is used for leg mounting and top bush mounting.
