Statement from the hospital here:

"Mr Schumacher was admitted to the University Hospital of Grenoble at 12:40pm, following a skiing accident which occurred in Meribel in the late morning," the statement said.
"He suffered a severe head injury with coma on arrival, which required immediate neurosurgical intervention. He remains in a critical situation."

That's very very sad. Other than being amongst the best racing drivers in the world he is also a 'scratch golfer'. Hope he recovers soon.

The news updates dont look good. I hope he is able to fight like he always did. Wish you a complete recovery Schumi

Oh man! The reports have changed for the worse now.

After hours of silence which raised worldwide concerns about the seven-time former world champion's condition, the Grenoble hospital issued a statement on Sunday night describing his state as "critical". He was in a coma on arrival at the hospital suffering from "severe brain trauma" and had undergone surgery, the statement said. French media reports said that Schumacher, whose family is at his bedside, had also had a brain haemorrhage.

The hospital statement was issued more than three hours after the Grenoble-based newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré reported that Schumacher's injuries had worsened and were now "life threatening".

Radio Monte Carlo reported that doctors would provide an update on Schumacher's condition at a press conference at the hospital at 10am GMT on Monday.

Just read the news. Hope he comes out of coma and gets well soon.

I pray that he gets well soon.
For me, he is the foremost reason to latch on to F1 and to see him fight through the field made him appear superhuman.
I hope that he fights in much the same way to get out of this coma.
Get well soon, Michael.
He celebrates his birthday this friday.
May it be the start of his new life.

This is really sad. I had read the first reports yesterday but they were maintaining that its not serious trauma. But now looks like quite bad. Hope he makes it out of it.

Totally & utterly shocked! The initial reports stated that he had an accident but it was nothing serious. Switched on BBC this morning & they say he's in a coma & a very critical condition :'-(
C\'mon Michael ~We\'re all rooting for you!
