Re: Lego Technic

Here is a pic of the Big Boy locomotive model, which with its 1000+ pieces took my 7 Yr old and me around 2Wks to build from ground up. This is a Lego rip off at an eye watering price. Bought this and some more only to realize that people can copy Lego to the last detail but it wont be anything near it.

And for some reason Legos are prized very well on Flipkart in comparison to Amazon.
Yes, the ford mustang shelby is on my wanted list too....
Planning it for my son once he is a bit older!

Thanks for the info regarding Flipkart & Amazon price differences, is it substantial?

Yes, indeed 1000/- difference.
It is cheaper on Flipkart.

I would like to ask you why you thought it was "not anything near lego". You can check my post few posts before yours and I have built the BMW 1000RR model which is exact replica to the T of Lego model. The only issue (was expected) I had was a single missing piece (small one, but this sometimes happens with original lego too) but the build was great and I never felt wrong with quality of the parts.
And the price was just so so mouthwatering. I got this set for only Rs. 1650 but that is because my cousin who was in China for a trip brought physically so no shipping from china or customs was there.

I additionally have the Architecture skyline Shanghai and London sets (I have posted pics few posts back) that are clones of original and Dubai skyline is original lego. I cannot differentiate between them.

Check the other clone sets I have with me which are yet to be made. I am most excited about the Back to the Future set. Also the Land Rover defender as there are free instructions on rebrickable for making it a Humvee or a Forkllift.

Re: Lego Technic

Gents, are we not digressing here?

Correct me if I'm wrong but this thread is for LEGO Technic sets not the generic LEGO sets and in some cases LEGO look alikes....

The difference being: (taken off the internet)
Technic sets use specialized pieces, sometimes including motors and pneumatic elements, to create much more functionality than you can get with regular bricks.

IMO, There should be another thread for Generic LEGO sets.

I agree and would appreciate if the mods can make one more thread or rename this as "The Lego Thread" and remove technic word.

My experience is that Lego bricks are more well made, fits properly and have a detailed guide as compared to other brands. And yes sometimes there are missing pieces. Rest I will not contest if better ones exists of not as it is difficult to debate and establish.

For an exact replica of lego set, you can follow the online instructions using lego builder app too.

Re: Lego Technic

Holiday well spent. Built this F1 Car out of Porsche 911 RSR (40296), thanks to free instructions from rebrickable.

One thing i can say is that if you own a technic set, dismantling it is far far tedious than putting it. You will end up hurting your fingers and breaking the black and blue pins so you better have spares available.
I am not sure if I want to rebuild MOC for technic sets at least from now as I feel building alternate builds for regular non technic legos may be far easier.

Great sale on Lego Technic and others going on at amazon right now. Apologies if this post is not allowed but I wanted to make Lego fans aware.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

The Lego models are quite inviting, especially the Technic ones, as they are a joy to build and the technology explanation is fascinating. Some of the models from the Speed Champions range:

Re: Lego Technic

Do the Lego technic cars have any pneumatic and/or motorized functions?

I know for sure that the Lego technic MB Unimog and Arocs trucks have them (pneumatic compressor for the crane, winch, tipper bed) and are further up-gradable to RC functions.

Not out of the default box but there are motorized kits that are sold which can be bolted on. An example for the Defender is below. If you google some on technic motorised you will find more videos on this.

Re: Lego Technic

Finally got my McLaren F1 on an inclined stand

Was hoping for someone to come down from the US of A or the UK to buy an acrylic stand for some 2.5k odd. But being as impatient as I am, I found 3d printing files for a stand and got it done at a startup in Kochi for some 800 odd buck! Needless to say I'm a happy cat.

Now to figure out the best colour combination to paint the logo on the stand.
