Also if i may ask something of this forum. Does anybody out of Bangalore have experience with these NGOs. Has anybody else interacted with them and/or made donations.
I follow what hserus has written below and politely decline. Once in such a call, the executive mentioned a child admitted to a big govt hospital in Delhi. I asked if she could share the details and I will ask my friend who is working nearby to personally go and hand over the money, but she wouldn't do so and wanted me to pay the NGO only. So you know what their focus is.

Couple of years back, I received call from CARE India NGO. I checked their website. It seems to be genuine, so I paid them couple of thousand rupees.

Within few months, my number was shared with other NGOs. And I started getting calls from 10-12 different NGO. Each saying, there is an urgent case which requires donation. On top of that, I started getting calls from two different offices of same NGOs. This started becoming harassment.

I still donate to NGOs. But I follow few rules -
1. Make only one time donation. No monthly donation.
2. Pay only on website of NGO
3. Once I make payment, I confirm to caller that I made donation. Also warn them that not to call again for next x months
4. I tell them how they manage their finances is their problem. I cannot make donation for a specific case

At the end of day, these tele-callers are sales agent like those selling personal loan and credit card. They get incentive based on how much donation they generate. That is the reason, they ask for transaction screenshot when I pay directly on website.
