Jenny, your words brought out the tears in my eyes again. Sam is right up there in the sky, the brightest star I see in the sky every night is none other than Sam and it would be so till eternity. Diya for Sam, today and always.

In 1988 a few days before Diwali I lost my father. I was 25. For 25 years my dad had been my guiding light. He gave me my love of music, encouraged me to build amplifiers and speakers (before I was a teen) and funded my mad ideas ( many of which tripped the voltage lines in our apartment). Through all my troubles: my dyslexia, my rebellion, and my successes he was beside me. When he passed, i felt alone, the light of my life was gone. I did not play music for months after. I never lit a diya after that day.

It is lovely to see that you have found it in you to post here. Sam had a gift. The gift of friendship. Even those who have not met him feel his loss, such was the power of his friendship. He understood the power of The Force, he was a true Jedi.

So after 24 Diwalis I will light a diya. Just one because there will always be only ONE Sam. I wish you all the best in your life. No words can describe your loss but I think I speak for all BHPians when I say that we will always be there for you and we will try to live our lives Sam-size.
