This thread is specific to the Legendary Zippo Lighters which itself is a brand to hold. it is a collectible item which has windproof technology to be used not only for smoking but for hunting, outdoors and various other activities :thumbs up

I am just going to order a Zippo black crackle lighter for me with fuel can and thought of finding a review in my favorite search engine TeamBhp but did not find anything. so started this thread to get the details of Zippo you own, price and its review :D

I have a zippo which was gifted to me by a friend about 4-5 years back.

The A represents my Initial.

Works like a charm. Have stood by me at all points of time :)

That "A" actually denotes Anarchy, but hey, works for your name too!!
:D

I have the classic brushed silver Zippo. Actually I got two of them. One that I'd bought way back in the nineties (1995ish IIRC) while the second was a gift from my office staff.

I had five of them, however at the moment I am left with 2. Two fell out of my trouser pocket while riding my bike while one was confiscated at Heathrow Airport. I can vouch for the quality of these lighters since I am using them every single day for the last 7-8 years. Also there was once while chatting on the roof of my friend's apartment, one of the lighters fell down 11 floors and it was still working.

Go ahead and buy it. However you will have to go through the hassle of filling it up every 3-4 days depending on your usage.

I too have the brushed silver one. Have been using it for a couple of months now. Cost is 1600 bucks.

I have two of them, Harley Davidson and Ferrari. I had bought them when I was a non-smoker just to add as props to my 1:18 collection. However...

I am getting a black crackle one at 1600 from ebay with both flint and fuel can at 306, are original zippos come at this price? earlier they use to be very expensive :)

I have a brushed silver one with the ace of spades design. @abhishek.gupta88.Truly,really does works like a charm.

Man, I dont know if i am using it in a wrong way or that's the way it is.
Bought the classic brushed silver Zippo 5 years back . Worked fine for few months. Then started issues with something or the other.
Filament burns way to quickly. Fluid evaporates once in 2-3 days. after complete servicing (by me) on weekly basis, it used to stop working after 10 days or so.

Now its safely kept in the wardrobe cos 15 rs plastic lighter worked better and lasts for an year (if you dont loose it)

Is there somewhere i am going wrong here? I know it has lifetime warranty and all. but we need to ship it to US at our own cost and god know when will it come back.

There is a zippo store in delhi where you can get it repaired.

It is based in south extension.

anyone here has experience with the butane ones?

I have a couple of Harley Davidson Zippos (which are fakes I believe but gifted by someone in good spirits!) and a Ronson (which was again a gift, but a genuine piece).

A close friend of mine collects them and has 20+ in his collection, some/most of them from the limited edition. He says someday they'll be worth auctioning, though I totally ridicule his idea stupid:

Here's a link to his collection:

This is the one I own. One of my most valued possessions indeed ! :)

Oooh lovely thread. Zippos are one of the most versatile lighters ive seen till date. I had a normal one with the razor blade design. Dont know if it real or fake. But it did work for 2 months and after which the fuel finished and while shifting to my native place lost it to the airport security along with my swiss knife. Not a smoker, but zippos are classy. I had to carry one in my denims and whenever friends picked a cigarette i had this nifty trick of lighting it. Like hitting the closed zippo on the thigh and lifting it up again while rubbing against the thigh leading to the flame.

Since we have started a zippo thread, does anyone have any tricks of lighting a Zippo? Thats the only trick i know of and i can do it with my forearm also but not as efficiently. My best friend has a trick in which he can snap the fingers and zippo lights. Not yet learnt it though.

Share your zippo stories and tricks too. If moderator can add "Zippo tricks" to the title.
