Appalling that people did not want to evacuate, despite repeated attempts at getting them out. Surprised that there was no official announcement from facilities operations/security either.

Ditto in my office in ORR. People are casually working as if nothing has happened!! :deadhorse

We are near MG road and felt that shivering. Went out of the building and later a colleague called from Chennai and informed about the earthquake.

I felt it twice or thrice within 2 mins

Tremors felt in many parts of Cochin and Kerala. My wife felt the quake.

Colleagues felt tremors in our office on Old Airport Road.. We were asked to evacuate the building.. Now came back to office

PS: I never felt any tremors though

Tsunami alert issued for India too. Oh well, we are back to work half an hour back :D

I wast just telling my friend that I am sensing a slight shake.
Initially, I thought it was only me but my confirmed he felt it too !!
5 minutes later , we were evacuated from our building at Manyata Tech Park.

My friend was to leave for Jakarta in couple of days. Hope casualties are minimal.

Spot on. I was surprised too.
I could see only IBM (D block) evacuating the building. For others around, it was just an amusing sight. :Frustrati

The tremors were felt as far as delhi and as per USGS , magnitude was 8.7 , 32 KM below surface. Tsunami warning has been issued in as many as 28 countries and 6 meters waves are expected in coastal regions . Below is screen shot from USGS website

off lately, we are experiencing too many earth quakes. Is this the sign of some thing big coming our way .

From what I read here, a TSunami watch has been issued. Warning is different IIRC. A friend from Andamans is reporting all OK till 5 mins ago.

As per TOI , it will take at least 1 hours for waves to reach coastal ares if it has triggered a Tsunami , so it will be OK for time being. next 1-2 hours are crucial IMO.

Kindly check below article. Pls Advice your friend to evacuate to safe place. Better be safe than sorry later on.
