Just a wee bit off topic:
"yes that really quite odd. not sure why they do that. but every paisa counts when its being totalled at that level. unfortunately the local bania always rounded it off. now with malls and card payments, no rounding off is required even at the total payment level"

Not only that another big advantage is that you can compare prices when you bought at malls.You cant do that at your local bania.On top of that malls sell below MRP and are consumer friendly.
A classic example of comparison,about 2/3 years back, was Dabur and Wipro honey.
At somewhat similar price you could get 650 gms of Wipro against 500 gms of Dabur.Reason being,as one of their executives put it,was that Dabur had to bear the cost of celebrity endorsement and Wipro didnt.

Hi
Thanks for the link and reviving this dormant thread.
All ads are not from the 80s some are dfinitely from the 60s era and VIP is from the 90s or maybe 2000s.I remember because quite a few people thought that it was a stupid ad.
