I think it causes stress on both sides, and birds, small animals, etc, should be kept as far away as possible.

Of course, youtube can quickly prove that they can be best friends! But these are probably situations where they have grown up together.

Among the many domestic animals that my mother kept when I was a child, hamsters are the only ones that didn't make it to record ages: the two we had were both short-lived.

Re: Team-BHPians and their Pets

My GF (now Wife) rescued and adopted these babies 6 and a half years ago. I've only had them for last few months, as we shifted into our own new house and then got them from her parental home.

They seem to have adjusted well here, and I'm already in love with them.

Team, meet mischievous Frappe my orange catto and his sister Bourbon, like the biscuit, my little shy black catto.

Lovely fellows. I wonder why/how it's always turns out to be a pair of a mischievous and a shy one. Same with our cats as well as the pair at my parents' place and other friend(s).

P.s. I'm guessing they aren't worried/affected by the bright lights from the neighboring apartment complex, given their nocturnal life by default.

Thank you! While she's shy, rest assured she seems to follow him into trouble - case and point they jumped +4ft into my study shelves over the printer.

Ironically after having added the black-blackout curtains, the lights haven't been turned into their "max mode" at all, and are in the regular non bright mode. touchwood.

However cats never seemed to mind, as we have plenty space and cat doors installed for them to move around freely into all rooms. More often than not, Frappe sleeps on top of our feet - just to show his extra affection Burbs on other hand prefers below dinning table. Then again, I've caught both of them sleeping on each end of the sofa or just cuddled in together too.

I adopted Jojo when Rover was one year old, and chase joined family when Rover was 2.5 and Jojo was 1 year old, but they all bonded really well

Re: Team-BHPians and their Pets

I would like to introduce our pet.'Dobby'.
He is a pedigree Whippet. He is so playful Very friendly with children. He is a fast runner and don't bark unnecessarily.
He is now 6 months old.
We had a Labrador earlier, compared to Lab this breed is quite smart and intelligent .

Cats are not really nocturnal. They are cat-turnal! They wake when they feel like it, and sleep when they feel like it, and that can be any hour of the day. I've heard that some can sleep as much as 16 hours a day!

Of course, they know when meal times come around.

So, a finalish update(at least in the near to medium term) is that the cage has been set outside. We have put up a thick plastic sheet behind the cage and have reoriented our plant pots so as to maximise the shade for the budgies. In the near future, we aim to increase the size of the plastic sheet for more shade. Visually, Lemon(the original rescue) is recovering very well and there is a lot of hair growth in the affected area.

I and my mother were discussing that ever since the cage has been up outside, there is this feeling of disconnect that we are experiencing. I mean I know that you can't really have a dog or a cat-like experience with birds or fishes but during the time Lemon was inside the house in the bathroom, we all went inside and had a look at it and interacted with it in our own way. But now since they are outside, truth be told, they have almost become forgotten. Is this how it is supposed to be with birds?

You have been very kind to Lemon and probably she would be thanking you and your family in her own way. Building a bond with birds is more difficult than building one with dogs/ cats. Also unlike Dogs and Cats, birds love to be more attached to other birds than Humans. Personally, do not understand the logic of having birds and fishes as pets. Especially, fishes are just like show pieces, better to get attractive robotic fishes than real ones. Let the ones with life swim the large oceans, lakes and alike.

The oldest one is 10 years old - (the orange one)

Re: Team-BHPians and their Pets

Any suggestions as to how to keep the Car dog odor free ?

Though I have owned dogs in the past (mostly big dogs - working group) have never used to take them around in my vehicles

Now with the Minipin its a distinct possibility, hence, the question

(Thinking of using a rear seat hammock type cover protect upholstery and door pads etc).

Best Regards & Drive Safe
