Which is your Download Manager ?

Which is the download manager that you are using and are you satisfied with it's performance ?

I'm currently using Internet Download Accelerator (http://www.westbyte.com/ida/) for the last two years after trying out heap of download managers for the 8 years.

Flasget tweaked version for rapidshare, megaupload, I.D for Songs, n dap plus for softwares n all rubbish needed.

Its the best I've come across. Its got a great interface, very user-friendly and easy-to-use. It enables you to pause downloads and also schedule them. If you are a premium member, you can also avail of the "Always Resume" service. This service helps to pause downloads that do not even support resume.

If a download is going slow, you can switch the site you are downloading from and the manager automatically selects a mirror site and continues the download from there.

In-built Media Player. If you are downloading a media file and want to see parts of whatever is being downloaded, you can preview it in DAP's Media Player.

Information of most files that are downloaded of the internet like setup files for different softwares is also available. Users can also rate these files to help others know more about the product.

The manager has three download modes. Each mode determines the amount of bandwidth the Download Manager will use for downloading files. "Low Bandwidth Usage" uses minimum amount of bandwidth and will not affect other Internet Services at a large extent. "Cooperative Bandwidth Usage" uses around 50% of the bandwidth of the connection, so that other services can be run too. "Unlimited Bandwidth Usage" uses up all the bandwidth, files are downloaded at maximum available speed.

It also supports a great feature - Regular/Accelerated. This helps you choose whether you want to download the specific file through the Browser or thru DAP.

If you have a direct link of a file you wish to download, you can just Add it in DAP and it will download it for you.

Overall, I love this product. But since I have a 72kbps line and if I start any download thru this, then all other Internet Services are affected. Anyways its not a problem with DAP alone, even Kazaa and other managers also affect Internet Speed.

I use DAP too... been using it since like ever... and this il use it till it becomes obsolete!

Free Download Manager. Small filesize, simple to use, and very effective. Oh yea, no annoying ad's either as its freeware.

Just downloaded Free Download Manager. Its a complete copy of DAP. Its more like a Lite version of DAP. Its fast and much more simpler than DAP. Although it doesn't look as great as DAP, it serve the same purpose.

I use Fresh download, its very simple and easy to use and i am happy with its performance too.
BTW do you guys use the registered version of DAP? DAP looks very complicated and takes up much space on the screen.

With these new age browsers including download managers by default, is there really need for seperate download manager?
I use default download manager on Opera & it works fine.
One perticular feature which I love is when you start downloading & are searching for location to save file whole time in the background Opera keeps on downloading.

I find in the download managers like DAP, etc the downloads are faster than the default download manager in browsers. These managers split the file in to parts and download, so i think the downloads are faster.
