You seem to have taken the words right out of my mouth! My first racket was a Nanoray 7000i and served me well for 2 years before giving up. Have tried several companies ever since then and recently settled into Li Ning after a sour phase that tested and ultimately broken my trust with Yonex.
Overall, the Nanoray lineup is one of the best beginner racket imo (which is now being replaced with the Nanospeed as informed by a Yonex store (they still seem to have stock of Nanoray though)) |
I've used Yonex racquets, a lot of them to be fair, bht none of them were mine. My dad uses a Muscle Power 29 Lite, and it is really good.
That said, I'm currently using the Apacs Finapi 232. It's superb in terms of weight distribution, can generate enough power for smashes. It's an amazing racquet for the price!
Nanorays are also pretty good and were on my list of racquets when I was buying one. But few characteristics (I don't remember exactly) made me pick the Apacs over the Yonex! But they are really well built and extremely light as well!

I had tried the Apacs Finapi 232 that belonged to a friend but IMHO felt that there was a decent amount of uncertainty in the control, could have just been the learning curve of going to 30+ lbs from 26 lbs on my Nanoray Lite 18i
Another factor that made me choose the Li Ning GForce 5900 was the fear of the racket snapping because of the extreme tensions. While it was possible to get it strung with lower tension, I didn't see the point of getting a racket meant for high tension just to put on a lower tension. Hence got the tried and tested and relatively cheap GForce.
On a side note, would you be up for a few games in Bangalore Club sometime in the next few months (I make a trip to Bangalore almost every month). Would be great to meet up
Cheers

Yep, entirely possible for the racquet to snap because of the extreme tensions, but realistically no one is going to string it higher than 28LBS. Mine is strung at 24LBS and it's good enough, though I might consider increasing it to 26LBS.
Sure, do let me know when and if you are coming to BLR, we can organise a meet-up for BHPians as well, and have some fun games while we are at it!
Cheers!
Hello!
I am looking for suggestions on a good badminton racquet for medium to advance level play.
Right now I use Yonex Astrox 21i. I am happy with its performance.
Smash shot is my strength, hence I think I should go for a slightly head heavy racquet. The current racquet requires a bit high muscle power to deliver fast smash. It weighs approx 77gms. Grip size G4.

Yep, exactly. I keep 2 rackets, 1 at 24lbs for plastic shuttles and another (rarely used though) at 26lbs for feather shuttles.
My end semester exams will be coming up soon, probably won't be another BLR trip this year unfortunately. Will definitely hit you up whenever I make the trip. Look forward to meeting you.
Cheers

I've rarely played with feathers, been playing with plastics all my life.
For sure, looking forward to meeting you!

Check out the Astrox 88D Game.. Or the Tour if you have the budget. Really well made racket for intermediate and advanced players.

No problem at all nova.19_exe,
All the very best for your college life, the best is yet to come. If you don't mind, which college will you be joining and for which degree?
Looking forward to when we do meet.
Cheers

Hi there SB,

Looking forward to meeting you soon!!
Cheers mate!!clap::Cheering:
Have been actively playing for few years now, but nothing competitive, just leisure and for fitness. As most, was on staple diet of Yonex racquets but now, most budget segment ones spotted at shops are Chinese made.
Have spotted two of them at Flipkart as Jap made, sharing links.
1 2
As a stop-gap, have got one by MAxBolt, claimed to be Korean and it's okay for the price (paid approx Rs. 3,800 with stringing / gutting)
Any alternatives? Online racquets are authentic Yonex? Sad to see Silvers being NA.

Yep, all the racquets you have posted here are authentic Yonex! I'd say go for the Astrox! Astrox series racquets punch above their weight, really fun to play with!
MaxBolt I'd say avoid, cause this is the first time I'm even hearing the name! As an alternate, you could look at Apacs or Li-Ning, they have some really good racquets in that price range!
Hey guys, I am constructing a 2 court indoor Badminton hall for membership and academy purpose. I would request your valuable inputs for the appropriate type of flooring between the below options. The floor is RCC.
1) Synthetic mats with foam/rubber cushioning (4.5mm mat with 6mm cushion)
2) Wooden sprung floor with PVC mats on top
Now, the 2nd option is the best I understand but the confusion is due to the cost/maintenance factor. Is it really worth the premium? Does option 1 gives relatively good comfort in long run or it's a no match to option 1 when it comes to cushioning and traction?
Any other points you would want to share.
Thanks in advance
