Meet face to face, this is the best for such a situation. Not easy, agreed. But the best.

The highlighted part, that's treading on thin ice. Only you can decide how to put it. You know how the other person will react to such Qs.

When I look back, I just can't help but think where I went wrong when I asked my friend for the cash.

We had been on a trip to Waynad and my friend fell short of 1000 bucks (I know 1000 bucks is a small amount. But for a student with 3k as pocket money, it matters. Moreover its my dad's not mine) and I covered up for him.

After a month, I casually reminded him about the money and he promised he would return it soon. That was the last I saw of him. Such a good friend who used to spend hours together at my place disappeared all of a sudden. He wouldn't answer my calls/sms, he wouldn't return them either. After a good six months, he sent the money through a common friend.

Not in my wildest dreams I would have imagined such a great friendship would end because of 1000 bucks. And for no fault of mine.

Such is life.
