Thanks msvg. Folks any new brand of bags in market? Looked at fasttrack bags. They are pretty decent but some how they are more suited college goers I feel, also it costs around 1.5K for a decent fast track bag which I feel is expensive.

Re: Bag for office/weekend/biking

I use a Cramster Laplace backpack which is ideal for bikers since it has a helmet holder which is very handy for me. The quality of the bag is good, no problems faced till date. It has a laptop sleeve too and a pocket to keep your mobile phone. Cost me 1600 bucks when I purchased it 6 months back.

Cramster - Travel Gear For The Restless : Motorcycle Luggage, Saddlebags, Magnetic Tankbags, Riding Gear - Jacket, Gloves, Backpacks...

I swear by Tumi, they are over priced but they're built like tanks and just never die. They don't look too shabby either.

Re: Bag for office/weekend/biking

Kickstarting this thread again because I'm looking to pick up a backpack for work, and I want something sleek and elegant, but which still is durable and can carry a decent amount of stuff. For context, here's a list of stuff I carry on a daily basis.

1. Laptop - 14 Inch + Charger
2. Phone Charger
3. Water Bottle (750 ML)
4. 12V to USB Adapter + Cable (If I ever have to charge the phone while on the bike)
5. Wallet
6. A couple of notepads and a couple of pens.
7. House keys and a swiss knife

A 24-30L backpack is generally more than enough for this. Since my birthday is coming up next month, I also thought I'd spend a little more and gift myself a nice backpack. But due to the options available, I'm quite confused as to what to get, hence I'd love for your suggestions and inputs as well. Onward to the contenders!

1. Scarters Terminal T2

Price: 16,600 INR

This is easily the one that in my opinion looks the best. But the price of course is a lot to digest. While it does have raving reviews and I already have a wallet and another smaller backpack from scarters which I'm happy with, I still want some inputs from anyone who ma already have used this backpack before I take the plunge.

2. Mokobara Terra Work Backpack

Price: 9999 INR

This backpack is a strong second contender for my use case. Looks pretty good (Not as good as the terminal IMO) and seems to be designed well for the stuff I carry. Again, long term reviews on this would be appreciated.

3. Samsonite Spectrolite 3
Price: 12,500 INR

Samsonite is a well known brand and this backpack does have that going for it. While it does seem practical, it lacks that flair you would expect when paying this much for a backpack. Looks more like a regular old backpack. Still willing to consider it though if it is levels above in quality.

4. Carlton Hampshire

Price: 6,800 INR

Again, a fairly understated regular looking backpack, at a much more affordable price. Hoping to get some reviews on this as well.

5. Aethon Krossover
Price: 5,999 INR

This is a brand I've never really heard about but just came across while scrolling through social media. It looks great, but I do want to know if it is of good quality.

Overall, my heart says go with the scarters and get it done with. My head however says, I do have to evaluate other options as well. Hence, I'm hoping y'all can help me make an informed choice here. Cheers!

You won't like it , but I had more or less same requirements and I realized my needs are met with this bag. Bought it for Rs. 599 and I took this even as a cabin bag for a 2 weeks trip overseas recently to carry my baby's items. Easy to open and close and the zips are of high quality.

Hahahaha absolutely! I'm sure any cheap backpack will get the job done. But then again, this is also a want in my case, and definitely not a need based purchase. Just trying to shove some practicality also in there

Re: Bag for office/weekend/biking

I have the samsonite & the Carlton use both of the back packs, samsonite has been my daily driver for the last 8 yrs plus (Model may be difft) but it's a go getter for me, have travelled extensively in India, EU & SA using the samsonite & never has it given up on me. Carlton is good but i feel the quality of Sam is a lot better.
Sorry never heard of the other bags there.

I used this Aircase for about 4 years, and only changed it because I got bored.
It worked for office, and for vacations. I don't know if it is available anymore. The above link says that it is.

Cannot agree more to this statement. I think once you have used Tumi, you cannot go back to anything else. Atleast I haven't been able to find a brand in office bags that even comes close. Got introduced to the Tumi universe in 2017/2018 and haven't looked back.

I currently own:

Tumi Alpha Bravo Andersen Slim Commuter Brief - Bought in early 2018 in US on discount of $250 odd. What I love about this bag is the amount of space that it has to things and you can organise them. The various pockets are all very thought out and user friendly. And usage of high quality materials show. It is still going strong but finally after 7 years of rigorous daily use, it is starting to show signs of wear. Also am slightly bored of the same bag for last 7 years. Hence, decided to change.

Tumi Alpha 3 Slim Portfolio Black - Got it recently. I have been kicking myself for paying India prices but decided to bite the bullet as now US prices have also gone up.
Bag for office/weekend/biking-img_20250128_152918.jpg

Tumi Tote Bag for women - Bought this for wifey along with my laptop bag. It has been used and (ab)used but still shines bright.
Bag for office/weekend/biking-img_20250128_160119.jpg

Tumi 3 Fold Garment Bag - Pre covid this was used regularly but hasn't seen much airport lately. Extremely functional and utilitarian. Cannot sing paeans enough.
Bag for office/weekend/biking-img_20250128_160247.jpg

My small Tumi universe.

Bag for office/weekend/biking-img_20250128_154312.jpg

I know Tumi is expensive but given the life it has, I consider it VFM unlike other luxury brands like LV/ MK/ Gucci / Coach or Mont Blanc.

I would like to get Tumi Aluminium Cabin Strolley but with its India pricing, I wouldn't even touch. I feel Tumi is best bought in US during holiday season discount.
