Seek Advice on New Mid Sized Car

Hi !
I'm looking to buy a new mid sized car. I have taken a look at The Corsa 1.4 and 1.6 , the new Esteem , the Baleno, the Hyundai Accent, Ford Ikon and am going to take a look at Fiat's Petra.

Need some help here. I personally had almost decided on the Corsa. However, am unsure of the following :

1. Will Opel phase out this car ?
2. Is it worth waiting for a 2005 model ?
3. Is FE really an issue with the Corsa ?
4. Ford Fusion - is it really worth it ?
5. Is there a major difference between 1.4 and 1.6

Am quite excited.. So please do reply asap.

Gone to check out the Petra

Take a look at the Petra and let us know what you think of it.
Here in TBHP most of us have tremendous faith and admiration for the Petra. Its a steal at the price you purchase it!!
But, as many here would say, go for the 1.6!

Its only a matter of time really. This car is now 2 generations old, and its not selling well in India, it never did actually, so I don't see any point in this car now.

Are they gonna launch a new Corsa? I doubt it. The next car in the GM lineup is the new Matiz or the Chevy Spark as it will be called here. A new Corsa would just be too expensive to sell.

I would say wait and watch. The Fusion is a much larger and more modern than the Corsa. Only thing is that you would have to wait atleast a few months from from the official launch till the supply steadies. However, the Fusion is vastly better than the Corsa, so I would say WAIT!!

You have'nt mentioned your price range, but if you can stretch to the Baleno, I would say go for it. 2nd choice would be the Petra or Ikon for me.

Good luck

opel will phase out the car when they will have some suitable alternate, its not worth waiting for the 2005 model as there wont be much difference, fusion is a muv and diffrent from a car if u dont mind keeping a muv ,fusion is a briliant choice.petra is good buy but will suffer heavily in secondhand market(used sienas'new shape' are available for less than 2lacs),the corsa s efficiency is fine for this segement(new honda city is a exception),and the 1.4 is a better option,i suggest you to go in for the ikon flair.

GM will phase out not only the Corsa, but the entire Opel brand altogether!! Its not got strong brand equity in India and GM wisely intends to focus its marketing activities only on Chevy.

To put it short and simple - Choose between the Petra and the Baleno. And yes, the Fusion will be worth the wait if time is not crucial.
