Re: Sub 10-lakh sedan | Honda Amaze Vs Maruti Dzire Vs Hyundai Aura

For new cars, I would ask you to stretch your budget a bit till 12, and consider cars like i20 DCT, Magnite/Kiger, as well.
Magnite Turbo CVT is peppy to drive!

But from the options you pointed out, I'd say consider the Aura, as I have had a better experience with Hyundai AMT (found it acceptable for sedate driving), while the Amaze I felt was poorly built, insulation close to zero, and God forbid if you revv the CVT, it sounds like someone has turned on the washing machine which is housed somewhere under your dashboard. It's best for sedate drivers. So do test drive all cars.
Interior space of Amaze is top notch though. I'll give it that.

I did not find this condition - "it should be new"
So, I'll suggest some of the stuff in this realm too.
If you can go the pre owned route, the Pandoras box will open for you.
Anything from a DSG to AT will be within reach!
If I were you, I'd skip all three sedans you mentioned and I'd pick one of these in ascending order of class-
Amaze Diesel CVT (easily the best combo)
Verna 1.6 CRDI AT
Vento TSI/TDI DSG (if you are brave)
Octavia 2.0 TDI DSG
Cruze AT (if you have a good FNG)

If you're choosing among those three options, the Honda Amaze CVT stands out as the best in its class. It's known for its top-notch reliability.

ABS is not an inconsequential detail like ICE. It is an important safety feature. It could be a life saver in situations.

My order of choice:
1. Honda Amaze (clearly ahead of the other two)
2. Maruti Dzire
3. Hyundai Aura

Do check out i20 Sportz iVT (CVT), a sub 10-lacs car.

Edit: Just checked that on-road price in Kolkata is close to 11 lacs. The 9.4 lacs tag is the ex-showroom price.

True! But at the same time, ABS has become an inconsequential detail as all cars (4 wheelers), mini buses and even 2 wheelers above 125cc need to have ABS as a mandatory feature. So checking that out (or even 2 airbags) is irrelevant.

This only proves that it's NOT an inconsequential detail ""

If features aren't important, why aren't you considering Ciaz base trim?
Can always add alloys, seat cover, ICE later on but the car is definitely an upgrade from all the others on the list though you would have to compromise on the AT.

Any news if Ciaz is getting a facelift in 2024? Are there any updates/ discussion regarding any updates that Maruti is planning for the Ciaz? TIA

Tigor is a better choice for personal use on account of sturdier build and better seats and suspensions. That said, the cars to buy, sub 10L, remain Punch, i20, C3, Altroz and the base variant of Venue. Don’t fall far the marketing game of ‘sedan’ and buy inferior and outdated products.
1 Even Venue/ Sonet IMT is not available at 10 L OTR. Forget about DCT.
2 Tigor is a good car but much smaller rear seats, inferior engine and questionable ASC support.
3 While sedans are a dying breed with clearly dipping sales, calling them 'inferior' is tad unfair.
4 Hondas typically age well despite the above remark
5 White colour also has its own elegance. In fact Honda charges extra for pearl while on all models. This debunks the myth that white = fleet.

Amaze would be a good choice. Albeit a facelift is on the way.

Re: Sub 10-lakh sedan | Honda Amaze Vs Maruti Dzire Vs Hyundai Aura

Are the rear seat widths (in inches/cm) available for customers to make informed choice.

How can one accurately compare between models on this parameter? YouTubers & armchair critics (like me) claim this rear bench is wider then the other etc.

Its high time this information is made available in public domain.
