Suggestions notch for 5L?

Hi I'm a newbie here. Great site...never even knew it existed

Got here due to DCeite a senior member here. Any more TE (techenclave) guys here?

I'm in mumbai, and looking for a sedan (notch) for around 5L.

Most people I spoke to suggested going for a top end hatch, rather than a lower end notch. But I want a notch, just don't like hatch looks.

Have 2 safari's @ my hometown (Jabalpur) but I need this car for mumbai (where I work).

Looking at ford flair and hyundai accent 1.4/1.5 cause of the price restrictions.

Comment on performance, economy, rear seat comfort (and space) - this is imp, and of course maintainence.

Will use this to commute to office (3-4 km only, navi mumbai, so no crowds), and monthly trips to my GF's and cousins place in Thane and Andheri respectively...

Any other suggestions car wise? Tips?

help!!

Those arent what you call notches, are they? Viva and Octavia are notchbacks. Flair et al are the standard 3 box sedans. You could perhaps clarify what you are looking for.

Anyways, at 5L you can get a brand new Flair. So makes immense sense to pick one. If you are really looking at notch notch, check a 2003 Octy. They cost 6-ish, I think. I do not know for sure though.

The only sedans that come to mind for 5l are
1. The IKON flair
2. Maruti Esteem
3. Hyundai Accent

a better option would be to get an used baleno. for 5l, you will get a less than a year old baleno.

OK so my options are more in the used car segment. Is there a thread on this forum with various used car models (year) and the price I can expect to pay?

Do let me know.

Thanks for the advice...

I too am from TE. You will definitely get some good feedback here but will have to search a few old threads as there are a lot of comparisons in the Indian Car section.

Happy searching.

There isn't any specific thread that discusses the resale price of all cars. i would suggest you read some threads that discuss some of these cars in the "What Car" section.

@Vandal : Do check out the Ford Ikon Flair which comes around 5.5L (OTR Bangalore). Got an SMS from Cauvery Ford dealer here, that the Ikon has arrived with improved interiors. Suggest u go ahead and have a look.

I suggest try Indigo Diesel which gives great rear seat comfort, Check out Petra too, either brand new or used one. Both give great comfort.

I suggest you try used car you can get 3+ yrs old luxury cars too for 5 lacs.

Regards,

Ravi.
