I am in the market for a new car.

I am considering the following in the same order.

1. Baleno LXi - New + upgrade to 185/65/R14.
2. Honda City 1.5 - Used. Not more than 40K on the Odo.
3. Lancer 1.5 / 1.8 - Used. Not more than 40L on the Odo.

For Used Car - Budget is not more than 4.5 lakhs.

Any advice for this line up ?.

I am not looking at Fiesta. or should I (slightly beyond my budget) ?.

Any BHP'ians in Chennai who can help me on the Used Car purchase ?.

Can 185/65/R14 be fitted to Steel Rims ?. I kind of like the stock steel rims provided by MUL but they come for R13 only. Are steel rims available for R14 ?.

Thanks.
'Subbu.

The Fiesta 1.6, I think, would be way over your budget. The 1.4P should be a possibility. The Aveo and Verna are also other available options.

@Subbu, would be helpful if you could list your average daily usage, main priorities that you are looking out for in the car etc.

Daily commute is not more than 30 kms. Weekends will be 200 kms. Family of 5 (3 adults and 2 kids).

Influenced by Baleno mainly for VFM i.e., 1.6 Litre engine for sub 6.00 lakhs with decent performance and low maintenance cost.

Looking at used City / Lancer since I hear they are good even used.

Unless there are compelling reasons i.e., excilarating performance, not willing to spend 6 lakhs +.

How does Baleno compare with Fiesta 1.4 (Fiesta 1.6, as you said, is on the higher side).

Aveo power delivery, I hear, is not good. Hence, did not consider.

I am not very enamoured by the looks and rather would go with street performance. Currently driving a M800 and hence not looking at any hatch back.

Thanks.

Hi Subbu,
welcome to Team-BHP. i think a proper introduction is in order here. Also you could list out the usage, preferences etc according to the format prescribed in this section.

R 14 steel rims are available as OE for the swift, indigo and the indica turbo, amoung others.

As far as your requirements go, i would reccommend the Baleno since it would be new as opposed to 2nd hand for the others.
