Yes, sure, Why not! Remember what ToI called Madiwala underpass - "World Class" as it was supposedly funded by Cement Manufactuers, I am fully confident about this tomfoolery called 30 Years. Seems like 30 is the favorite number for road designers in Karnataka -

Blast from the past:
Quote:
Bangalore is set to witness a ‘white revolution’. As opposed to tarred roads, which are black in colour, the city will have ‘white roads’ that use the US technology on important stretches and last more than 30 years. Our roads hardly last four to five years.
The ‘White Topping’ technology is expected to be used in 11 signal-free corridors. It uses special concrete and a chemical substance that gives vehicles a firm grip on the road.
Sadly, it didn't even last 1 year and the underpass was closed for repair twice for over a week or more.

Is the stretch between Dudda - Arasikere fully repaired? I had driven through this stretch couple of months back and it was bad at certain places around Haranahalli. At some places, it was just a sea of gravel. The Shantigrama - Dudda is good which passes through beautiful countryside.

Can someone guide me to reach Udupi from Belgaum? I am planning to drive tomorrow morning. Google maps suggests three routes and I am confused which one to choose.

Belgaum - Dharwad Bypass - Yellapura - Ankola - Bhatkal - Kundapura - Udupi should be good for you although there are other options through State Highways and twisty roads that can take you here.

Yes, good roads and very less traffic. From what you describe it looks like the roads have been laid after that.

If the construction activities go as per the plan, Shiradi Ghat, which has been closed for repair works, will be thrown open for vehicular movement by June, before the onset of monsoon. According to officials, 43 per cent of the road work has been completed and the rest will be done in six months.
What if the monsoon strikes bit early?

They close for 6 months and they can do only half the job?

Now that is real good! Never expected that would ever happen. Another fantastic option to cut through KA.

Arsikere-Dudda-Shanti Gram-Holenarasipur will even bypass CR Patna.

It was laid just last month it seems. Heard from a friend in Hassan.

Dudda-Shantigrama was actually a narrow road. Don't know if it has been widened. Same with the Shantigrama-Holenarsipura road. But now that the Arsikere-Dudda-Hassan road is done up, this is going to be the faster option anyday.

Sorry if I did not make the intent clear. Many look for options from NH4 4-lane towards western ghats or Coorg or Mysore etc. This option just adds to that. Ealier it was always Arsikere-CR Patna.

Example: Hubli-Ranebennur-Shimoga-Arsikere-Hassan-Madiekeri

This also adds to options for food, as Hassan gets added to the list.
