I looked up that road on Google Maps - Satellite View. It looks pretty decent to me. See here (zoom in further): http://goo.gl/maps/Tjtyi

But of course, monsoon-time conditions could be very different. :-)

Oh yes! I am for exploring new roads all the time. Last weekend I was at the Chikka Tirupathi temple and I dont recollect any tarred road turning that side. But that also may be because, I did not look for it as well. We should definitely find out.

Tried the Hoskote-Malur Road last weekend. That's not bad as well, save for a few minor patches. I went only upto Malur but heard from friends that the same road goes all the way to Bagalur (Malur-Hosur Road) and it's good, will try this sometime. I think this road merges with NH207 at Bagalur.

Kolar-Malur-Bagalur SH is very good. At some places it turns rough though. And it reminds one of the old SH of yore with trees lined on both sides of the roads. I hope it remains that way.

We can only wish and hope, I did hear from some folks that there is a plan to widen this road in the future
Malur town had buildings close to the road and had a median dividing the road but in many other places, there were fenced properties with additional road facing frontage, hinting at possible road widening.

I doubt that. There was a basic widening of the Hosur-Bagalur-Malur-Kolar SH. And I have seen the widening part. Tar on both sides of the road. Not sure if they are doing anything more than that.
But that road is a beauty to drive. I would recommend an early morning drive to Kolar. It comes out just where Woody's is on the Kolar bypass. Have a nice breakfast come back via the 4-lane.

Re: On Bypassing Bangalore

Sorry if this question has been answered somewhere on this thread. We are planning a road trip from Coimbatore to Hyderabad. Planning to cross Bangalore city before 7 AM, but have heard that the Bangalore city traffic could be bad even as early as 6 AM. This is what google suggests (through Bangalore city):

I tried an alternate route bypassing Bangalore city. But do not have any idea whether I will end up loosing time by taking this route. Also, which time of the day would this route be faster than crossing Bangalore city?

Bottom line is, I do not want to waste a whole lot of time just for crossing the 40 plus kms of Bangalore city. Any help is much appreciated.

Re: On Bypassing Bangalore

Would you be coming via Kanakapura Road or Hosur Road? If its Kanakapura road, then I guess you could take the NICE road upto Tumkur Road and then take the Outer Ring Road to go to Hebbal and then you are on NH7. If its Hosur Road, I would suggest take the elevated road from Electronic City to reach Silk Board and keep going via MG Road to reach Hebbal ( since you said you'll reach Bangalore before 7am ).

Can't see your attachments, but if you are very sure of crossing Bangalore before 7 AM (and you are coming along NH7 or NH209), then the best idea is to go through the city.

Thanks very much guys, for your suggestions. As per plan, yes, reaching Bangalore before 7 AM. But if in case it gets late, would the following route be better? Not sure why the images are visible. Let me attach the alternate route image once again:

That's the Ampere route (see http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...ml#post3174510). I think it takes you through roads with character. Your call, entirely.

Take the Hosur-Bagalur-Sarjapur (outer) - Hoskote-Devanahalli.
Beautiful route and you are out of Bangalore without even knowing.

Points to note :

- Better mark out, which is the correct Exit to NH207 from Hosur towards Bagalur.
- At Bagalur, make sure you do not continue straight. It leads to Malur. There is a T-Junction, where the road on the left would look good, but a bit narrow to start with. Later it becomes quite nice. That is NH207 for you !
- Once you reach Sarjapur about 11km further, you would see the road leading to town. Dont go into the town. You would see NH207 continue on the other side. (Take right. Its almost like Partial U, a Y-fork)
- Head to Hoskote.
- At Hoskote, go below the NH4 (4-lane) continue on NH207 towarrds Devanaahalli. If needed ask the folks in there for the road to Devanahalli.

- Overall its definitely worth it.

Thanks very much guys! Definitely helps!

The other question is, which is the best vegetarian restaurant after Devanahalli? We would be reaching Devanahalli from Coimbatore by around 8-8:30 AM - time for breakfast. For lunch, may be after Kurnool, any good vegetarian restaurants?

No doubt, the halt needs to be at Kamat (on your left) a little after Chikballapur. It is attached to a petrol pump.

By the way, I by passed Bangalore earlier this month and also last month, both at around noon time.

I used the Davanahalli - Whitefield - Sarjapur - Atibelle (SH35) route.

Davanahalli - Atibelle stretch of 66km took me 90 minutes both times.

Re: On Bypassing Bangalore

Here's the path of least resistance for someone trying to quickly make it across Hoskote when traveling Devanahalli <-> Bagalur on the NH 207 : please prefer this to going under the flyover any time.
