1. during walking till you enter the temple que for darshan, cell phones are allowed. you have cellphone locker facility before you enter the darshan que, use them...
2. cell phones inside the temple premises are strictly not allowed, even though you keep in silent mode. before the main entrance, you will be frisked by the security, and so better to use locker facility.
3. elderly senior citizens can go straight to the main entrance, and join the darshan que from there. handicapped also can use this service.

depending on the day & speciality - darshan times vary from 5hours to 10 hours in rs.50/- tickets, all depends on your timing...

Why Renigunta when you can get that done in Venkatanarayana Road TTD ?

The display boards last week said 5 hrs, my colleague got out of 300 Rs ticket in 3 hrs on Saturday afternoon. Should be around the same ballpark if you are going this weekend. It'll be much faster if you do it on weekdays.

1. For walkers, can we carry cellphone with us?
2. Generally, can cellphones be taken when going inside the temple. Obviously, we would have it in silent mode and would not use it. But as you know, it would be helpful once we come out of the darshan to locate the car etc.

There are places just before you enter the queue to deposit your cellphones. Please defly don't carry any sort of luggage along with you. Unless you will have a vehicle that will be driving up where you can dump them in.

Yes they can go all the way to the temple entrance, they still have to endure the last mile problem. IIRC they are positioned on the exit door where people usually come out after darshan.

I am planning to go there this Saturday.

1. Can we book accommodation directly at the CRO office in Tirumala? Has anybody booked like this before?
2. Plan to visit Kalahasti on way back for doing Rahu Ketu Sarpa pooja. Does any body know the procedure for this?

Please provide any information that may help in my trip.

The darshan for elders is totally hassle free. Age limit is above 65 years(proof is essential) and i guess another person is allowed for support. They have to wait at the entrance, and right from the time when they enter the temple, finish darshan and let-out, the main queue is stopped.

I kept my backpack at the luggage counter that is meant for Rs.300 darshan queue, with my old nokia 2700 phone inside.

They did ask whether there is a phone inside, i said no.

After collecting the luggage back, i found out later that the 2 GB memory card is missing.

So, beware guys, these TTD employees do dig up your bags for anything 'worthy'.

Are you sure that another person is allowed with elders for support? I thought they allow another person for help only to differently abled people.

And, isn't the age limit about 58 or 60? Surprised to hear it is 65.

-Ravi

They allow an attendant on a case to case basis if required. Most of the time SriVari Seva volunteers accompany the aged/disabled people.

I was told that getting tickets in TTD, T.Nagar is like advance booking and would not be able to get the Friday's (yesterday's) ticket just 2-3 days before - we started planning for this trip only since Monday.

Anyway, Thanks to you and for all others for the information provided. We had a nice darshan yesterday - though had to wait for some 4hrs.

Reached Renigunta by 4:45am. and got the Rs.50/- ticket. We got the 3p.m. slot. Me and my wife started climbing the stairs by 6:10a.m. and were able to reach Tirumala by 10:30a.m. where our other family members were waiting. After lunch, joined the queue by around 12:30p.m. and had the darshan by 4:30p.m. Heard that the rush was because yesterday was
1. Full Moon day (Garuda Seva was scheduled for 6p.m.)
2. Mr.P.Chidambaram had visited the temple yesterday morning and so the queue was held up for some few hours.

My grandpa, at the last moment, decided not to come as he was a bit apprehensive about the rush etc. However, noticed a board saying that elderly above 65years of age can avail the privilege.

Does anyone have an update on Seegradarshanam queue? Questions are...
1. What time do they open the counter early in the morning?
2. Are there any quotas/limits in the number of ticket issue? If so how many?
3. Is the fee still Rs 300 per head with 2 ladoos?

Thanks

I havent gone recently, but from what i have heard it has changed. 300rs ticket. Counter opens at 7AM in the morning(be prepared for a queue for tickets from 6:30AM)

So either you can stand in the queue or go by 7:30 when queues would have eased hopefully. I am not sure if there is any quota, but on a weekend be prepared for a 3-4 hours wait time.

BHPians,

Have to book the Sudarshanam booking for my forthcoming visit to Tirumala, can some one confirm if children aged less than 10 yrs are allowed free along with the parents who have confirmed tickets? Do I have buy a ticket for my son aged 6 yrs? Pls confirm. Coz the TTDsevaonline does not allow to enter my son's age as 6 yrs and asks for inputs betwen 10 and 100 yrs.

Couple of queries regarding Tirupati

1) What are the private car rental rates in Tirupati for the temple visits in Tirupati and Kalahasti?
2) Any ideas about a temple called Golden temple which I heard is some 100kms+ away from Tirupati?

BHPians who have undertaken the above two, please respond.

The golden temple is at Vellore. You can reach via chittoor-vellore. road surface is good.
The golden temple is more like a self aggrandizement of one individual. It is more like ISKON temple where every thing is sold. It lacks the ambiance of sacred place. They have special darshan ticket Rs250/300. they take all credit and debit cards.

There is no ticket for kids below 12 years in Tirumala (AFAIK). They are allowed with parents
