Members, Its almost a year since I got married and I spent all my time thereafter on the road from Delhi to Goa. I have thought of covering the same distance again in December. I plan to leave for Goa on the 19th or 20th this month. Assuming I will be passing Mumbai on the 21st or 22nd does anyone have an idea of the road conditions. I know the roads from Delhi all the way to Ahemdabad are excellent. Things did take an ugly turn nearing Surat if I am not mistaken. Any other stretches that I should be aware of? Thanks for your help in advance.
Roads great all the way. Baroda-Surat is now 6-laned, all flyovers are complete and there are no more traffic jams.
hi Shelleve,
How do you plan to approach Goa from Mumbai? I guess from Delhi to Mumbai, you are definitely using the GQ. From Mumbai, you have two options, NH17 all along the coast or NH4 till Nippani and via Amboli from there

Hi,
One good stretch that you can try is going to Goa via Kolhapur - Bhogawati - Radhanagari. The way is quite decent and the Ghat section is rather simple without too many blind turns
I plan to go via Jaipur - Ajmer - Beawar - Udaipur - Ahemdabad. So essentially on NH8. Thanks for the other options from Mumbai. The last time went via Girgaum and then ended up going through the hills. The road was non exsistent at that point of time. All i remember was Red Oxide all over and not being able to go above 10km/h. Its good to know the Surat road is now open. I remember getting stuck in several jams along the way. Thanks So much for your assistance guys.
@Shelleve, do you have a map or something that you can share with me as I plan to do Noida-Ahmedabad trip in the 3rd week on this month?
Abeer
There is NOTHING required. Just come to Gurgaon and keep driving on NH8. the signboards are simple.
Only in kishangarh - avoid the route straight to ajmer but stay on the dual carriageway as it moves to the left to chittor. else just stay on the road. Else print from yahoo maps :)
Folks I am leaving Saturday morning for Udaipur first. Anyone joining in?
TRIP : Gurgaon, Haryana to Agonda Beach, Goa
CAR : Maruti Swift VXi
DATES : 14th July to 20th July 2013
STOPS : Mhao (MP), Bhandardara/Lake Arthur (MH) and Amboli (MH)
ESTIMATED DISTANCE : 2300 km
ESTIMATED DRIVING TIME : 30 – 36 hours
As this trip is in middle monsoon, I need route tips/advice from other petrolheads.
Q1 : What is the best route from Mhao (MP) to Bhandardara (MH) – via Ghoti or Sangamner?
Q2 : What is the best route from Bhandardara to Elephata – via Sangamner or Otur?
Q3 : What is the best route to Amboli – via Kohlapur, Nipani or Belgaum?
Q4 : Which 3G provider should we use so GoogleMaps works on the road – BSNL or Vodaphone?

Are you planning to go via MP? I would suggest Jaipur-AMD-Mumbai-Pune-Satara-Sankeshwar-Amboli-Goa. Time it correctly such that you can beat the traffic on Delhi-Jaipur sector.
Going via MP.
Gurgaon - Indore/MP route plan is via Jaipur - Ajmer - Bhilwara - Chittorgarh - Mangalwad - Nimbahera - Neemunch - Ratlam - Lebad - Manpur - Mhow - Indore.
Been told that the Chittorgarh - Nimbahera direct route is a very bad stretch as is the direct Lebad/Pithampur/mhao stretch.
Also been told that the Gurgaon - Faridabad - Agra - Gwalior - Indore route is a disaster.
Plan to leave Gurgaon at 430am to beat the early morning trucks & back-to-back road works.
Can any one comment on the Gurgaon - Sohna - Alwar - Dausa - Jaipur stetch?

Would ask again. Any specific reasons to go via MP? I still think the option via AMD/Mumbai/Pune would be faster (in spite of the bigger towns that you need to cross).

The stretch Ratlam - Lebad - Manpur - Mhow is not something to write about either. Instead of Ratlam, try reaching Indore via Ujjain. It's a little longer but way better.
And I'd avoid MP unless required.
