1]PUNE-nh50-chakan-rajgurunagar-manchar-left turn-ghodegaon-dimbhe-bhimashankar.

last 5 km is through protected area and expect bad roads.

other route is

2]pune-nh50-chakan-rajgurunagar-left turn-wada-bhimashankar.

i have heard that route 2 is newly laid. you have to ask road condition at rajgurunagar otherwise prefer manchar route.

pune-bhimashankar @ 125 km.

Hi Ashish,

Thanks a lot, man. You are a living encyclopedia This question had been doing the rounds in my head as well and today you have supplied the best answer. 125 from Pune would make it 350-ish from Kolhapur. Maybe leave very early in the morning and get back by the time it is 8 pm

Is Route 2 operational now? Any idea whether it joins the existing Manchar-Bhimashankar road or is it a direct road to Bhimashankar?

Distance s ashish has already quoted the road condition {15 days ago} on nh50 is good and after you turn off from ghodegaon the road initially patchy and then improves somewhat in between toward s its end as pointed out out the forest reserve is poor but doable condition !!! Weekday s no crowd at all friday somewhat crowded sat sun chance s of crowd high !!!

Route 2 is operational. I did this route around 4 months back. I was told to do this route because beyond Rajgurunagar towards Manchar there was a major accident of oil tanker and the road was completely shut off.

The road is not that great but still very much driveable and its very scenic route. Incase you want a bit of adventure this is the best route rather than taking the Machar road. Only a few Kms before you touch the Manchar Bhimashankar road - the road is Kachha and not laid. It touches the main Bhimashankar road approx. 10 Kms before Bhimashankar. There is hardly any traffic on this route so expect a smooth drive.

People who have gone both routes, what's the better one considering
time & road condition?

Also how do I get to NH50 from Aundh, Pune?

And 125 kms meaning, I should be able to do it in 3 hours, right?

From Aundh (wherever you are staying) come to Bremen Circle and then turn left onto Aundh Road (road going towards Khadki Railway Station). You will pass Spicer College on your left.

Turn left (this is the first left after Spicer College & Botanical Garden) at Ambedkar Chowk onto Bahu Patil Road.

At the next Y junction turn right (you will pass a petrol pump on your right) and then go under the railway bridge and immediately after crossing the bridge, turn right.

Go a little ahead and take a hard left turn onto the old Mumbai-Pune highway. Go straight till you reach Nashik Phata. At the Nashik Phata signal, turn right. You are on NH50. On the Mumbai - Pune road, stick to the middle lanes and not the service lanes. You will see big overhead boards pointing to Nashik before the signal.

From Bremen Circle, it will be a little over 7 km to Nashik Phata.

Once you leave the highway, road is small as well as with turns hence speed comes down considerably assuming you are a safe driver. I took about 3.5-4 hours to reach there with a tea-stop in-between.

Depends on the traffic as well.

I did a trip to Bhimashankar last friday night on account of Shivarathri.

Left home at 12:30 am on 13th Feb. Reached Bhimashankar at 3:00 am. took me 2.5 hours. I took NH50 from Nasik Phata and it was a breeze. Could keep 100 kmph till Manchar.
Beyond Manchar the roads had deteriorated so much since my earlier trip 3 months back.
I stopped inbetween for 10 mins to check out on a M800 which seemed to have gone off the road, to see whether those people needed help. They were heavily drunk, so decided not to land in trouble by trying to help.
Darshan was a breeze. Though it was shivratri, there were sparse crowd. Hardly 20 people on the queue.
We left Bhimashankar at 4 am and I reached home by 6:30 am.
Total distance clocked was 260 odd kms.

I intend to go Bhimashankar on 5th aug.

I want to try the Rajagurunagar-wada-bhimashankar route.

Has anyone done it recently?

Any update?

The Rajagurunagar-Wada-Bhimashankar route shows in maps from several years ago, although this road was not operational till recently!!!!

How many kms from Rajagurunagar?
